Aw heck, let’s just squeeze another issue in before we hit the big 5-0. I never fully understand why they do this in a series. To me it ends up seeming lazy. Why not make issue #50 bigger if they have more  material? I’ve been told they do a .1 issue like a catch-up or summary issue. I don’t like it very much. You could easily condense that into a longer big book.

On the bright side, Daniel Way opted to go about it with Deadpool in a very original, and Deadpoolish way – via song. Maybe Way was watching Glee one night and he thought, “Yeah….I can see Deadpool doing that….” I liked the idea to begin with, but after awhile it was very overplayed. Also the material that was being rehashed was more like past issue highlights. Again, I don’t see the point in doing this type of issue other than to make money.

Maybe they were also easing John McCrea into the art role before the big 50th issue? I don’t know what happened to Sal, but I miss him. McCrea does a decent job with Pool and most panels. Overall the work is a bit gritty and I don’t know what the hell he was thinking when drawing the X-Men or some of the villains.

So the final vote is in and this issue is a pass. Read it at your own risk but it really contributes nothing to the storyline and overall I felt it was a waste of my money (and I am a Deadpool fan). The first few pages are the best part and after that it was more of a chore to read than any Deadpool comic should ever be; shame on you Daniel Way.
