Kiden is on the run after her mysterious new friend's pimp tracks them down. At a nearby high school, a young girl's mutant powers suddenly emerge in the middle of class, forcing her to flee from an angry mob.
The X-Men are called in to investigate several murders in District X. At the Institute, Sage reviews information on the Hellfire Club, while Rachel and Kurt share a surprising moment together in the Danger Room.
The Hauk'ka appear to have completely turned Rachel to their side, so much so that she has begun to alter her appearance to look more reptilian. Luckily for the X-Men, Psylocke and X-23 have evaded capture and are free to mount a rescue attempt.
Cut loose from Weapon X by Zander Rice and left to die, X-23 must fight off dozens of AIM troopers to return home. Afterwards, Sarah utilizes X-23's talents for a personal mission, jeopardizing her place at Weapon X.
The fallout from the House of M continues as relationships fracture between those who still have powers and those that have lost them. The situation becomes even more volatile when Wolverine decides to add X-23 to the mix.
The New X-Men struggle in their training assignment, as Hellion refuses to follow Surge's leadership and Elixir is still guilt ridden from the death of his friends. Another of the students falls victim to Stryker and the Purifiers.
Stryker reveals Nimrod as the source of his visions, and that he has manipulated Jay Guthrie into helping him eliminate the mutants that stand in his way. With his preparations complete, Stryker launches his attack on the Xavier Institute.
Still reeling from the attack on the Institute, the New X-Men learn of Jay Guthrie's death from Ms. Marvel, who has come to Xavier's to urge the mutants to comply with the Superhero Registration Act. In Dallas, Forge is ambushed by the sentinel Nimrod.
