The second Werewolf by Night issue has a much stronger story and is a better read. 6/10

This is already way better than I was expecting.

I would say it was rather interesting

I didn't realize the Darkhold went back this far in the order.

Kind of interesting, but the werewolf seems far too similar to the Hulk with the whole 'noo I'm accursed to turn into an unthinking brute' thing. I am looking forward to hearing more about the darkhold though.

Yeah, this has confirmed it, I'm not looking forward to the horror portion of the order. Hopefully the Dracula stuff is a bit better.

I really hope the other horror books are like this. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Good stuff. I can't wait to see where this series goes.

Oh gods, how did I not pick up on this in the first issue? They named their werewolf character after a yappy little breed of terrier. Really Marvel?
Well I also am surprised that I'm like this as much as I am. I was dreading coming up to this era with all the shlock horror, but maybe it won't be so bad. Please don't be so bad.

Bummer about the goof where Andrea becomes Agatha halfway through the book. But this was enjoyable - Conway's wordiness works better here than usual.

Unless Andrea/Agatha comes back to life to die again later, Gerry Conway doesn't know the meaning of the word "penultimate."

I'm not crazy about the "inner thoughts" of the werewolf. I'm okay with the first-person narration, but when I see the werewolf think "must get to forest!" it sort of takes me out of the story.

I did like seeing Kraig get struck by lightning. I thought that was a pretty cool way to go for someone with a metal hand.

3 stars for Jack being tied in with the Darkhold!!!

Hey Chains - I was really hoping the werewolf would've took care of the Hellrunners personally. After, what they were going to do to with his sister!

Bewitched - Actually, I prefer Agatha!

Milksop - Poor Nathan, he never had a chance...

'Nuff Said - "Did I--do a bad thing?"-Kraig

You've gotta appreciate a woman who's named her son Jack, knows he's a werewolf, and still decides to marry a man with the last name Russel.

Is it just me or was there an old lady with Nathan when they get to his home who wasn't Andrea/Agatha and was never seen again?

  Russ Says:

This builds on last issue's debut. Instilling a quest for Jack on the origins and nature of his transformations will keep interest in the series going for awhile; it's a good plot.

The Timlys struck me as the type of couple in past horror mags (like EC) where the man was a timid older guy and the wife had an alpha personality. I liked Agatha's hair; she was rockin' the Frankenstein's bride look! I'm also curious about this Darkhold and hope it factors in the series in the future.

3 stars. I'm with everyone else; hope the other monster/horror series are this good when they come out.
