Issue Review
   November 23, 2016
Among the flaws:
Dialogue. There's too much overblown narration, and most of the dialogue is terrible. Rarely does it sound like something a real person would say.
Marianne. In this chapter we learn the Kevin is suddenly, inexplicably in love with her. Huh!? When has he ever been in her company? Other than here. And what would he or Tony see in her, anyway? Her default setting is misery. Always crying over the same things over and over.
Captain America. The great hero behaves like an idiot here, attacking a complete stranger. His apology? "It happens."
Mister Kline. How much longer will this arc continue? These aren't stories. This is lazy, lazy writing. Kline just sending villains to attack Tony/Iron Man over and over. Yawn.

WORST!ARC!EVER! This is worse than Mike Murdock and Mekano combined times two. The Ant-Man story was awful, but it was WAY better than the Iron Man story. I just want to cry.

I gave it an extra star because the Ant Man story made me chuckle. Two stars for this piece of horrible writing. Iron man is one of my favorie characters, but this storyline has been so bad that I find myself dreading reading them.

First order comic in a while... and the first page is a load of bullshit. Yep, this started well. (...) The writing is just so unbelievably bad that everyone talks like the narrator, corny at its worst.

Hard to believe that the magazine survived this run. The title is in serious need of a boost, like tossing Natasha into DD.

  Garfieldicus Says:
  2014-03-16 19:35:02
That somehow managed to make even less sense than the stuff before it. Add to that the fact that Iron Man now appears to be sharing his book with good ol' Ant-Man and seems to have gone bimonthly, and if I didn't know better I'd have said the writing was on the wall.

  MrRsBB Says:

  Iron Man story:
Oh no, Vince Colletta is back, but this inking is pretty good. The occasional blob of black does crop up. This script is much better than any recent books, but the story of MrKline is getting tiresome. Seems the same every book, c'mon, get on with it! The action is also ho hum. Word count is quite high(2)
Ant-Man story:
Well, looks like Marvel split books of old. This little one-shot tale's art is nothing special, altho this concept does give pause for thought. Scarlet Beetle is kinda funny. (1+)

Hey this issue isn't terrible enough, can you do something about that? Easily done, let's add Ant Man.

I loved the Ant Man story. That story alone is four stars. However, I'm giving this comic one star because at this point in the order, that Iron Man story is easily the worst written comic book I have ever read. Every line in that story is jarring and I seriously could not concentrate on the story because I kept getting smacked in the head with that atrocious purple prose. I just can't believe how bad that was.

I like the Ant-Man comic too, but I thought Hank retired. Is this supposed to be current or some kind of flashback?
What is Tony using to power the armor right now, a watch battery? How is he constantly running out of power after like two or three moves? And how did he not know that this was yet another robot attacking him? For that matter, how dumb is Marianne to not figure out the Tony/IM connection? Is she choosing to just ignore it?

0.0...This issue is a prime example of the need for a "0" rating!!!

Credit Due - Robert Kanigher a long time writer for DC, scripted this mess going off of Conway's plot!

Comeuppance - I was hoping Cap would've put Kevin in his place!!

Edit - I think Mr. Kline means military might, and not military night! (p5,p3)

No Prize - They mistook the Night Phantom Robot with Mr. Kline, or a Muppet...(p5,p5)

Begorra - Now we have Bridget the Irish Cook...who seems to be doing a Hazel the Maid impression!

'Nuff Said - "You've licked your chops at everything I've served you! Now, gulp down these sizzling pizzas from Pompeii! Swallow this red-hot double-scoop from Hell!"-Iron Chef

The best thing about this issue is some surprisingly solid inking from Vince Colletta. The second best thing about this issue is that it's only 13 pages long. Yeah, that's all I got.

  HeffElf Says:

This was terrible beyond belief! I'm so tired of the whole running out of power thing. It is so inconsistent with hiw much power the suit has. I really hope they go away from this soon.

  Katryn Says:

Iron Man gets injured and Tony Stark ends up in a wheelchair - no one bats an eyelid. I always did say that people in the Marvel Universe are incredibly dumb. And no one at Marvel has much idea of the anatomy of the heart other than some general names. If your aorta is flapping, you're not walking.

  Russ Says:
  2017-03-03 14:41:10
"Weep for a Lost Nightmare".....more like, weep for a lost 15 minutes of your life you never get back for reading this tripe. This isn't even bad on an entertaining level like the Torch series was, at least.

1 star. Ugh, what Tony's saying about his heart, you can almost say the same about my head....

  Allencthulhu Says:

When Robert Kanigher can't save a book, you know it's in trouble.

Two stars.

  Saithrenslot Says:

We've descended into madness. A complete decoupling of the writer from his mind is taking place within these pages. Nearly every panel contains some torturous failure to coherently convey an idea let alone a story.

If this were made into a movie, it would be the spiritual successor to " The Room"

  JonahBlack Says:

So much awfulness, but I laughed out loud when Night Phantom "Karates a wooden chest into cardboard".

  benmason486 Says:

Kline's plot is so convoluted and long-winded that it is now annoying. I enjoy intricacy in my mad-cap villainy, but this is too much.

Where did Kevin's love for Marianne come from? Admittedly, she is lovely, but he's known her for, what, a week, at most? Also, if I loved someone who was dating another man, I might tell her of my love, but the decision would be hers. He could learn something from the artist character in "Love, Actually."

Fun fact: that actor plays Rick Grimes in "The Walking Dead."
