The best thing here are the two main characters: Namor and Doom. Separated, in different parts of the villain's lair, they fight various obstacles and remind us that they are two of Marvel's most interesting characters. Writer Gerry Conway gives them fascinating dialogue/thoughts and we cannot help but admire them and root for them to win. 8/10

I quite liked the resolution and aftermath of this arc. Compare this issue to Fantastic Four #6 when Namor and Doom first appeared together in a comic--two widely varying levels of character development AND reader satisfaction.

I liked the way Doom was portraid as a friendly figure and not the despot he is always made out to be still he is so twisted that it makes him even more powerful

The way Doom has been portrayed lately, I don't see why he couldn't sustain a series.

The best Namor issue and the best Doom appearance so far.

I was missing 3 pages towards the end. I missed the best parts...

Really strong ending to this arc. Doom is easily the most nuanced villain in the Marvel Universe at this point.

Har har, Doom gets beat down by some random android. Good issue.

3 stars for Namor and DOOM having a moment!!!

Finger Bang Bang - Hey, watch where you point those fingers, androids!!!

Cubed - Everyone, including the writer thinks that this is the original Cosmic Cube...Modok himself destroyed it way back in Captain America #119!!!

Villainy 101 - It should be in the villain's handbook by now, that if you have Namor held captive. Never keep H2O anywhere near him!!!

Astonishing - So who, or what was the mysterious Kenner?? Why was it focused on Namor?? DOOM acted like he/it was sent from someone other than Modok. I guess we'll never know, since I don't think it's ever explained in later issues ???

'Nuff Said - "I...must...go to it...have to touch it..."-DOOM

I think Dr. Doom was too sympathetic and out of character this issue.

Cindy Jones - spent this entire time either barefoot or in heels and is still more useful than Rick.

Not real keen on MODOK during this arc, but this was DOOM at one of his best appearances. DOOM is the one character that transcends villainy; he's sympathetic when it suits his needs, and fits his agenda. There's no need to know for sure why he does what he does; he is DOOM.

The attack by Kenner was out of left field. From what I'm getting, he was a creation of the cosmic cube. But his apparent mission wasn't made too clear that I saw. Anyone else know?

3 stars. Anybody also noticed that replies to a couple of letters in the letter column got switched?
