This story just doesn't work.

It's a courtroom drama. Because - now, suddenly - it's possible to restrain the Hulk. Somehow.
And they've decide to try him for his life.
And Matt Murdock is the only lawyer bothered by any of this.
The art is terrible, too. Plain. Ugly.

3/10

Given the space they had to work with I thought the trial was pretty well done. Granted, the actual legal process was way off, but still enjoyable.

Spencer, I enjoyed it too, knowing full well they couldn't pull off a normal trial in these pages. It was still a great story.

Conspiracy (law): An agreement between two or more persons to break the law at some time in the future.

Please tell me how that in any way applies to the Hulk in this situation?

"men in colored underwear always getting in Hulk's way"XD, pretty funny. Backgrounds? no point in backgrounds! The art is actually pretty good, in its own way. There are many bad panels, but it looks like John Severin was given a lot of leash here. People looking a bit more natural than muscle bound. The script is good at times, but the word count gets pretty high. The story is the heart of the Hulk "legend" in general, so its good stuff. And the whole Marvel U is at this trial. I really liked this. (3)

  WHERE ARE THOR'S PANTS?

Also, if this is a federal trial (pg 10), why is it being held in the city courthouse (pg 11)?

It's always fun when the whole Marvel Universe shows up for something like this.

A great issue showing the inter-connectivity of the Universe, with Murdock at least being much more competent than last issue, an entertaining court case being displayed and a sensible while clever plot. Love Trimpe's art in this one, especially the way he draws Murdock - I would vote him for DD's own book! Finally, the Hulk isn't forced into every page with unnecessary dialogue even though it's his own title, and for that I am very pleased.

3 stars for twelve angry superheroes!!!

Kinky - Uh-oh, Torch is starting to call himself Torrid again!!!

One And Done - How much ya wanna bet, we never see the nega-gamma rifle again?!

Rebel - That one protester has his sign backwards!!! (p13,p2)

Big Brain - Funny scene of Reed popping up behind the judge! Also, imagine trying to bring in a gun to a courtroom today!! I guess Reed didn't care about others in the courthouse and surrounding area being hurt by the Hulk escaping??!!!

'Nuff Said - "He's already gagged!"-Matt Murdock

I kind of want to see how they would try to execute the Hulk. Just to see each method fail.

A long-awaited arc with a weird ending here. I'm not sure what Reed thought he would accomplish by having the Hulk escape. It's not like there's any form of capital punishment they could mete out that would put a permanent end to the Hulk, is there? And all Reed did was jeopardize his superhero career and standing in the community. Oh well, not like that's always worth anything, right?

Other than that, this arc is great. Murdoch is finally showing competence in his profession and making good decisions for his client. And the whole concept of the Hulk on trial is excellent to begin with. I'm enjoying this arc and liking where it's going in spite of any flaws we've seen.

4 stars. The only thing that would've made this more entertaining? Two words: Judge.....Judy!

I love this issue. The Hulk works best when he is with other members of the Marvel Universe. I hope the hulk stays this strong.

At least this trial was more fair than the one the Illuminati will eventually give the Hulk.

Story was just an excuse to have lots of cameos from other superheroes. I don't think any real trial would have done such a travesty of justice as this portrayed. If the government really believed The Hulk to be a deadly threat to the planet, society, etc., then they would have just ordered Ole Thunderbolt to take him out.

If the Hulk was incompetent to testify, then it's not right to hold a trial until such time as his competence can be ascertained. They can still hold him, like when someone would be put into a psychiatric hospital, until such time as its possible they could testify for themself.

The only redeeming quality for the issue, is the ending when you find out Mr Fantastic might have done something to help the Hulk to escape. What a moral quandary!

Dialog was well done for what the story was, but the premise just wasn't believable.

Art was ok, at least on The Hulk, Mr Fantastic, Matt Murdock and possibly Daredevil. The remaining cameos, not great art. Many looked nothing like their usual selves from other books.

The central idea of this issue is pretty good, but the execuation was somewhat lacking. All the cameos running in and out of panels just bogged the story down.

The wrestling mark in me did pop when Thing name dropped Dory Funk, though.

Murdock certainly had the case to ask for a change of venue and to appeal the loss, not that either would work for the Hulk. He was going to be convicted no matter what.

The judge obviously had it out for the Hulk.

Murdock has the right to question his witnesses. The prosecution can object, but they can't dismiss the witness's testimony without hearing it; that sets up a mistrial.

I'm pretty sure the Hulk isn't dead. Why make the reference to the soft tread of death?
