Man, it sounds weird but I've genuinely been looking forward to the arrival of Howard the Duck. |

Stay with me here. I understand the drastic slipping of realities here, but if you buy into the 'many worlds interpretation' which suggests that every possible outcome of every single event exists in alternate realities then how do we know we aren't constantly slipping between realities.
For example, me playing a game of Monopoly will result in millions of different universe due to me rolling a 1 and 1 different reality, 1 and 2 different reality, etc, combine that with every variation of every event around the planet and there are constantly infinite universes being created. Now, obviously, there are going to be infinite Earth's with barren wastelands because there are always realities where Nuclear war happened, or life didn't evolve, the atmophere was destroyed by x variable, but there are going to be infinite realities that parallel our current one so closely, ie in 1st grade in an inconsequential game I drew a 2 instead of a 3, and every other variable in the entire universe remained the exact same. How can we tell we haven't slipped through to that reality and swapped places with the other 'us'?
It's completely theoretical philosophy, but it's still an interesting question since we know so little about space, time, and inter-dimensional travel. People say it can't be done, but people also said nothing can travel faster than the speed of light until we found particles that defy that notion. |
