An issue of reality-bending madness, starring Jennifer Kale. The story is crazy, but it makes sense and it's a lot of fun. Man-Thing appears briefly. As does Howard the Duck. 9/10

Man, it sounds weird but I've genuinely been looking forward to the arrival of Howard the Duck.

Right, that issue wasn't weird enough to be truly psychedelic, goofy enough to be funny, coherent enough to be taken seriously, and the art was awful. I'm not sure what Gerber was going for, but I'm pretty certain he didn't succeed.

Korrek is a great satire on the sword & sorcery characters proliferating at Marvel at the time. I would love to see a Conan story where, unable to kill the monster, he just sits down and figures "oh, screw it!"

I really, really like the wtf tone of that arc.

This is great! Man-Thing is turning into a culmination of Conan and Dr. Strange which works perfectly for MT... And YES!!! Howard!!!!!

What....the....f&$*!? How is it possible that this comic made so very little sense, yet was extremely entertaining? Peanut butter people?! Dream blinking!?
Once again Grandpa shows himself to be a terrible guardian! He says "I can't stand in your way" when he should be saying "Hell no, you can't go with this strange old man that mysteriously appeared in your bedroom in the middle of the night, and that you have explicitly stated isn't trustworthy!" And what is the first thing that happens when she goes with him? She's forced to change into a metal bikini again!
But hey, at least this all gave us Howard!

I really liked Korrek's line that his people never feel fear because they're just not that bright.

It's really fun to read something so different from everything else Marvel was putting out at the time.

Seriously, this is batsh*t insane. Or is it a jar of... man?? (My new favourite line from any comic book ever.)

4 stars for the 1st app of Korrek the Barbarian! Also for some lame duck; a real quack if you ask me...

Credit Due - It would've been 5 stars, but Val's art is killing this series. He can hardly do swamp scenes; much less fantasy and sci-fi!!!

Goober - Hmmm...first time that Andy is being a jerk...must be the peanut butter...

Nutty - I wonder if Carlin Peanut Butter is named after George Carlin??

Hold The Mayo - I can understand everybody freaking out about the peanut butter. When everyone knew that Korrek should've been coming out of a jar of MANonnaise!!!

Peking Duck - Yikes! Howard looks pretty rough for his first appearance! It's like watching early Looney Tunes and Disney cartoons and seeing how they evolved over the years!!!

Penalize - It must be a rule at F. A. Schist of no shirts allowed...

Bat Out Of Hell - So, I guess the flying demon at the end was supposed to be Thog???

'Nuff Said - "Suddenly all this is starting to make a perverse kind of sense!"-Jennifer Kale, remembering that it was Dakimh who designed her costume...

I love Gerber. Peanut butter warriors, a world that looks like Fritz the Cat's, just the general tone of insanity

Everybody! Duck! Howard's here! But he does look different. I wonder if fowl play was involved....

This was one bizarre story. It seems as though Jennifer's at fault, but I'm sure there's another theory as to the melding of her dreams and reality. Interesting that she's wearing that provocative costume again, too.

And Korrek emerging from a jar of peanut butter? Do choosy barbarians choose Jif? Women might argue that he came from a jar of chunky.

4 stars. Nice to see the AFLAC spokesperson in his first job.

The end of reality as we know it is because someone decided to build an airport in a swamp. That's so silly that I kind of really like it. Damn you, F.A. Schist!
