Issue Review
   September 19, 2013
The series hasn't quite figured out how to deal with the trapping of the werewolf angle, and it bugs the reader when the story strains to find a way to make a day pass, or when the hero runs away from loved ones in peril, because of his curse. 3/10

The limitations of the traditional werewolf mythos are already causing this title some problems with credibility. I hope to see some development soon. And how does either an 18 year old kid or newspaper reporter know how to fly a sea plane?

They had a pilot, you might've missed that.
My question is, why have "Blackgar gang" tied only Cowan and Lissa, and left Jack untied? Ran out of rope?

Easy the guys were over confident that the guy was knocked out

I liked this much more than the Marvel Spotlight Werewolf issues. Nice plot twist at the end too. I was thinking that the storytellers messed up until I got to the end.

I wish they would stop with the first person narration. I don't know why, it just frustrates me. It's also the reason I dread reading reprints from the Golden Age monsters' books.

  I'm enjoying Marvel's horror output.

Extra star for the ending. I don't understand why he couldn't free his sister and Cowan... He had the time.

I call shenanigans on the mirror. It's not to be seen in the apartment until Wolfie is standing in front of it for Marlene to look into.
Other than that, the horror titles continue to stroll along with a quality I was not expecting.

Such an awesome splash page by Ploog's. Although I guess the Gorgon's curse isn't too harsh... The werewolf seems to be able to move around quite a bit in the first few panels!

Although for once I got a kick out of the Irving Forbush gag.

On Pg7/P3, a coloring error makes it look like Lissa is wearing a tank top. Combine that with the 70's hip-huggers she's wearing and I'd be howling at the moon too!

The ending seems oddly out of place, but it heartens back to those surprise twists from Tales to Astonish and the like.

3 stars for Lady Gorgon reflecting back on her life!!!

Splash - The credits are very Flintstone-esque!!!

Location - Hmmm...Buck Cowan's house is on the corner of Venice Blvd and Venice Blvd...

Femme Fatale - On p10,p6 is that the Female Spy from Spy vs. Spy coming out of Tinkerbells??

Mongo - Poor Strug, he was only a pawn in the game of life!!

Decoder - Best prize ever in a box of cereal period.

'Nuff Said - "Jack's gotten a little big for himself, lately...it's time he was taught a lesson in self-control!"-Philip Russell

Phil Russell - you want us to help you trick my step-son into coming to a meeting so you can do who knows what to him because you say he stole something from you? Even though as far as anyone knows, he has no history of petty theft or other crimes? Yeah sure, sounds legit.

Jack's story is progressing nicely so far. The Blackgar arc was actually pretty intriguing, although now I have to wonder what's going to happen with the house. Phil probably can't sell it again. But at least Jack has the book again. Don't you wish more teenagers would pursue books like this?

I'm liking the rapport Jack is building with Cowan. But you'd think one of these days Cowan's going to learn Jack's secret.

Poor Marlene though. I guess she wasn't immune to her own powers (Marvel mutants in general are).

3 howls, errr stars.

I just realized that the reason I find WbN's design off putting is that I'm used the more modern, full snouted werewolf (a la World of Darkness etc), and the classic smaller, more human faced look is weird to me.

::shrug:: I'm still enjoying these far more than I anticipated.

Wow, Buck, nice way to make a buck off other people's misfortune.

In myth, a mirror simply nullifies the power, it doesn't reflect it. Oh, well, I guess this isn't a myth. I'm sad to see her go. I liked Marlene.
