#2 is a mixed bag. The series cements its cast of regulars and sets them the task of understanding The Darkhold.

The rest of the issue has our (anti-)hero fighting with a generic baddie. 6/10

That shark looks like it was ripped out of a funny animal comic. There was no attempt at any kind of realism in the drawing.

I'm not sure what this is missing... But it's missing something. It's just not doing it for me. The stories are bland. I gave it 3 stars because it want terrible, but 2+ would be my real rating.

I'm kind of at a loss as to what the whole transformation is here. Jack's mind is taken over by the wolf, though he seems to be fully aware of what is happening, and he gets hairy. I haven't really seen anything else, is he stronger? Faster? He doesn't seem to be, because regular humans are constantly kicking his butt.

I'm digging the groovy seventies fashion. Check out Buck and his open v-neck and swingin' pendant!

Also, while the comparisons to the Hulk are obvious, the question as to Hulk's "goodness" is always explained by Banner being part of his mind. With the werewolf, it's interesting that Jack is questioning whether the "badness" is the werewolf, or himself.

Cephalos' beard fluctuates between being thin and thick on every page.

2 stars for the wolf becoming the prey!!!

Car 54 - Why wear motorcycle helmets when you're in a patrol car?!

We're Going To Need A Bigger Wolf - I wonder if the shark will now become a were-shark??

Bikini Bandit - Me likey Betty!!!

Hip Hugger - Me likey Terri!!!

Location - In Marvel Spotlight #2, Jack's Dad was from the Baltics, and now its the Balkans!!!

Rogues - @AmazingGatorMan & duncanm: Good points. He has interesting villains with creepy powers and locations! With henchmen that can hold there own. Maybe they're gone too quickly for us to care about them?!

'Nuff Said - "Something's wrong, lad...I can sense it...something connected...with the full moon."-Buck Cowan

Seems like the series is now in a holding pattern. The story wasn't bad, and I liked that there were further developments concerning the Darkhold, but the last couple of issues haven't done too much for the series.

One thing I did like: Buck Cowan is starting to ask the right questions about Jack.

3 stars. Figures there'd be guys like Cephalos to try to take advantage of Jack's situation. Wonder how many super-powered folks track him down.

You should be asking me how I figured out who you are!
Ok, how did you?
It doesn't matter, I'm just really smart like that.
Well why bring it up if you're not going to answer?!

First of all, I want to give Ploog credit for trying to make his faces unique. However, in a few places, the women in the background, for instance, they look freakish.

Second of all, I think Conway finally found his metier. The narration in this issue was actually quite good.

Three stars.
