Issue Review

Awesome. Even more than the thrill of seeing them fight the Avengers is the fact that the story behind it is good. And, even better, at this stage in the story: The Defenders are 'winning'. Which is fine by me, as I prefer them to The Avengers. (There's a great cover to this issue. Hilariously misleading, but still great.) 10/10

  Nice finish from Dr. Strange!

So far, the Avengers are getting pummeled! At 0 for 3, I hope they can turn the tide soon to at least even the odds.

Well of course they are, it's the Defenders. Can't think of another team that matches the power of Hulk, Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Namor, and Valkyrie. Even if you don't want to count Hawkeye.

"ˇCaramba! Un caballo con alas y dos personas fantásticas. ˇNunca beberé tequila antes de la noche otra vez!"

xD I love these bits in other languages when they're actually readable.
This was very entertaining.

This is why I really don't like Dr Strange. Got quite a good fight going, but they need to wrap it up quickly with a win for him, so he just pulls some magic out of hisa**and zooms off.

Damn, the Defenders are kicking arse and tacking names!

I guess Hawkeye has been eating his Wheaties since becoming a hero, since he finally beat Iron Man.
Score so far: Avengers 0 - Defenders 3
The upstarts have taken the early lead grabbing half of the cosmic toilet plungers! Will they be able to complete the sweep or will the classic team mount an improbably comeback?

I usually dislike these superhero-misunderstanding fights, but this one is epic enough and weird enough (Dr. Strange casting spells at Mantis from underneath a school bus, after she sees through his chubby-older-lady disguise?) to be pretty entertaining.

  - OMG, Clint! You can't do that. I remember Hawkeyes being brash but he is a completea**so far in the order.

- What the hell, did Roy Thomas write this? Of course, she kind of likes it...(rolls eyes)

- It has been a long time since we read any Iron Man, not that I'm really looking forward to it, but I can't remember what Tony was up to (was it the fire hippy arc?)

This is becoming a fantastic arc, in spite of the Defenders basically curb-stomping the Avengers up to this point. By the way, even with my familiarity of Fantastic Four #54, what makes the Defenders think the Evil Eye is going to restore the Black Knight without any consequences? Isn't the Evil Eye, uhmm, evil? There's a reason behind that name.

@dadoodoflow: The last Iron Man solo story in the Order was indeed quite awhile ago. Remember that goofy wanna-be magician named Rasputin? And that funny spell that was "Lionbarf" backwards? Who could forget!

4 stars. Really looking forward to the next three match-ups, including the Invaders reunion and especially the battle of the bruisers!

I agree with the Panther, how are any of them going to stop Dr Strange? But I like Hawkeye beating Iron Man basically by distracting him then running away.

3 stars for the Defenders taking the lead at the half! Coach Cap is really going to rip his Avengers a new one for dropping the Evil Eye three times!!!

Set The Mood - I recommend listening to Frank Sinatra's "It happened in Monterey"!!!

Touchy Feely - You just know Hawkeye was holding on really tight to Val all the way down to Mexico!!!

Cuando Los Cerdos Vuelan - Val should've beaten the crap out of Hawkeye...like everyone else has so far!!!

Children Of The Corn - Funny scene of the Black Panther getting mixed up with the Cat, and Mantis reasuring them that he's not with the Black Panthers!!!

Double Barrel - The whole point of a shotgun is a wide blast pattern! Someone still should've got hit!!!

'Nuff Said - "--But the Defenders are so powerful--so ruthless--and yet so like us!"-Scarlet Witch, Head Cheerleader

They trespass, steal an artifact, and create a ruckus on his farm and then call him the fool for defending his property. Damn hippies.

I'm really, really liking Hawkeye lately in this arc. I know he totally assaulted Val, but he apologised afterwards and did understand he'd done wrong. Then he starts talking about how he's the weakest Defender - his ego has really been toned down.

Although the interchange with Stark: Hawkeye: "I may be the weakest Defender..." Stark: "YOUR EGO HAS GOTTEN THE BETTER OF YOU".

I have to say, Iron Man was a bit of a jackass this edition. I was seriously rooting for Hawkeye to kick his ass.

As others have said, this arc has been great! I was looking forward to it for a while as like a big crossover point, but I was kind of expecting it to be a little terrible. I think all the Doc Savage and Marvel Team-Up has made me forget how good Marvel can actually be! 4 stars.

Hawkeye seemed a little too cavalier about throwing acid in a former teammate's face!
