Seriously? F.A.Schist?? That's just a little bit ridiculous.

Unused names for that character were: I. P. Freely, Hugh Jass & Heywood Jablome...

I think I prefer these swamp hi-jinks issues to the "space trippin" stories. Prally just my brain being lazy.

I liked how the Man-Thing effected the events without even trying.

Man-Thing really doesn't go easy on alligators.

Isn't Man-Thing supposed to kind of be the protector of the swamp? I guess he's just got a thing with big reptiles.
Really liked this issue, they seemed to be able to fit a lot of story into a single issue without it feeling too wordy.
The mirror shack of doom, however, was just silly. And is it like the TARDIS? Because I swear from the outside it looks like Man-Thing would never fit in there...or even in the doorway for that matter.

I like Gerber's tongue-in-cheek approach to this title. A refreshing change from all the other horror titles in the order right now.

Richard Roy is pretty muscular for a born loser.

  - The Man-Thing just yanked his chain with a hand wet with simmering juices, you all caught that right?

- I love Steve Gerber

- Now Playing "The Power" SNAP!

Suggested listening for this story: "Richard Cory" by Simon and Garfunkel; the very antithesis for this issue's hero.

I found this one very entertaining. It seemed to be a bit of a throwback to the earlier days of the series in Adventure into Fear. It's always been pretty amusing to see Man-Thing as a spectator to all the events around him, and while I like the way the supernatural blends into these stories, Gerber has done well with these slice-of-life one-shot. I found the various disparate elements of this issue were blended together brilliantly. Richard and Ruth, the bike gang, and Schist's laughable attempt at killing the Man-Thing. Nicely done.

4 stars. Or, maybe Man-Thing just likes to wrestle alligators.

You know, despite his name, Schist doesn't seem like that bad a guy. He just wants to build his airport. Wickham, on the other hand, has developed the penultimate method of execution. I just don't know why it's penultimate. Was he just too modest to try to claim that he could invent anything that was better than paste?

3 stars for the Man-Thing getting microwaved!!!

Cover Me - It rubs the swamp water on its skin, or else it gets the chain again!!!

Gator Tail - Yeah, I'm with you guys. What does Man-Thing have against gators? I'm suprised he's not walking around the swamp in gatorskin boots, belt, and matching luggage!!!

Smack Around - Funny scene of the doctor dropping baby Richard Rory!!

Cirque du Soleil - When the biker gang takes off looking for Ruth. It looks like French and his old lady are riding a uni-motorcycle!! (p11,p5)

What's The Frequency, Man-Thing - Intresting that low frequency hurts the Man-Thing. I wonder if it's used against him again in later issues?!

No Prize - Richard Rory was so excited to attack Snake that his hair turned blonde!!!

'Nuff Said - "Gimme back my chain! It's my trademark! It's my power!"-The Late Snake, President of the SKull-Crushers, St. Louis chapter

Real Estate developer, F.A. Schist wants to "drain the swamp." I've heard this somewhere before...
