Change of direction, though ongoing plots are featured. Mostly it's a fight with Fantastic Four that is rooted in character. It's nice to read a hero vs. hero fight that makes sense. Namor, I suppose, has the personality to make something like this work :) 9/10

I wonder why they thought this Sub-Mariner change was necessary, because it really wasn't. The plots and stories have been sloppy, but his character does not need re-imagining.

Yeah, this is kinda silly. I just know from here on there will be plots where he end sup suffocating out of water without his suit. Not looking forward to that. =/
Still, I guess this is nearly the end of the series. My guess is that the title was flagging at this point, and they had to try something to bring more readers in.. I suppose it didn't work and they canned it after issue #72. =p

At least he's gonna stop parading around in his trunks. I never understood the logic behind this since even Atlanteans wear clothes!

The Beatles stand-ins were acceptable for an issue or two, but did this stupid sorry have to drag on so damn long?

@zweineuf... Wait four guys...talk a lot about love....golden submarine....it's subtle, but I see the connection. It's so subtle, though, that I wonder if it is intentional, or coincidence. Does that jean Virago is Yoko?

Blech, big step back. Not only is Namor back to his "kill all humans" old annoying personality, but now we can look forward to Iron Man style constant health scares. Yay!

Wait'll you dig Namor's dramatic new costume? It's on the cover already! And how can the FF be "surprise guest stars" if they're also clearly on the cover?

Those are the least orca-like orcas I've ever seen. Not even the coloring is right in this issue.
Namors new outfit looks like an aquatic Spider-man outfit with the whatever between the body and arms. And yes, unnecessary reboot.

  Russ Says:

The new costume does look kinda cool, but that's all I'll say about it. It does seem unnecessary in hindsight. Well, those speedos probably needed some good dry cleaning.

Interesting to see that nerve agent goop raining down on an already-wrecked Atlantis, wiping out most of the population there. It does throw something of a curve-ball at the whole "we conquered Atlantis" trope. We're nearing the end of this title's run, so almost anything could happen at this point, as far who might survive this catastrophe. But man, what an ugly way to go.

3 stars. The whole Atlantis vs. Surface World thing might've had a little more punch had he not threatened it so much in the past. Maybe it's because we've read this in the Order over the span of a few months when it's been the course of 12 years for readers at the time these books originally came out.

Wow, Thing full on wanted them to leave Namor to die. Seems a bit harsh.

In this issue's Send it to Subby, Steve Gerber writes about the changes to this series.

@zweineuf: And Ibbar the Rabbi is wearing a Sgt. Pepper's outfit!

I don't think it's that harsh. I've been hoping he'd die for around 70 issues.
