Is it me, or in page 8, when Zarrko is designing the robot, it resembles in some manner to modern Iron Man? Later the real robot turns out to be slightly different.

It does a little...especially with the helmet and the "nipples."

Not much to say about this story but "ugh." It was funny seeing Thor throw a temper tantrum though. Verily.

I love how Giant Man is portrayed in the main story. In the span of three panels, he tells The Wasp to stop talking, insinuates she won't be any help if the Avengers have to fight, and says "Well, what are you waiting for? Let's GO!" How valiant! How chivalrous!

For battling the evil ones Thor earns 30 forcepoints!

I thought the idea of Thor throwing a temper tantrum was amusing, and I also liked how he lost half his powers. Well to humble him lol.

I was shocked that Thor's hissyfit at the beginning of the story was legit, and not some Loki-induced hypnotism or something. I love how these stories are starting to build on each other, with ideas and themes carrying over. I was never a Thor fan, but these comics are getting better and better, and Tales from Asgard has been consistently good.

I hate how the b-story is now thor's past and not Odin's, those were more enjoyable

I love the cover on this one. The big metal gauntlet thingie is awesome and the dude in the green jacket is really sellin' it! Tell 'em what time it is, Thor!

  Phantasmagoria Says:

I agree with Redsvetz on the cover for this one. It seems like Jack Kirby is really starting to improve about this point in The Order.

This issue is a definite step in the right direction for Thor and the characters that surround him. He's starting to sound more like the Thor we know and love today, and his supporting cast are all getting gradually more defined. Loki, though in this issue he has still yet to hint at the complex character he will become, shows some real cunning playing his father off Thor. Oh, and the guest appearances from Giant Man, Iron Man, and Wasp are well done.

Ultimately, the biggest weakness of this issue is the lack of definition of how strong Thor actually is. It seems a little far-fetched that he'd have trouble with a mining robot.

I noticed how Heck was taken off of the credits, I wonder if that's a permanent thing...

Not much else to say about this one that hasn't been said yet. Good development, awesome cover, it's weird to see Thor acting like the Hulk at the beginning. I like the Tales of Asgard panel where the baddies were charging the literal hole in Asgard's defenses.

One star for The cover. One star for Heimdall.

After the previous 2 issues with mr Hyde this issue was poor in comparison. Thought the proportions on some of the artwork was dodgy as well - in particular the robot when it was destroying a building.
The b story was terrible total non-event. Yet again poor in comparison to previous

Average issue overall, but I really liked the cover with Zaarko standing in the giant robots hand. Very effective, and would have definitely interested 11 year old me to buy it. Also liking the improved integration of Thor's supporting cast.

Now if they can just get his powers to be more consistent from issue to issue...

3 stars for the return of the Tomorrow Man, and a great Tales of Asgard backup!

Cover Me - As others above have said; Tomorrow Man standing in the robot's hand is quite striking!

Swinger - On page 2, panel 8 You just knew that Tony would have a bachelor pad with a zebra rug!

Power Source - Interesting note during the Thor & Heimdall melee. Heimdall was using a cosmic powered sword, and Thor's hammer can channel Netherworld energy.

Old Bag - Funny that the Norn Hag 1st app is in the main story, and in the Tales of Asgard story as well!

God Of Misinformation - It's odd that Loki thinks that Thor took away Zarrko's memory.

Nice Ride - Zarrko may just be a lowly clerk now, but his car sure is awesome! His Timecube is pretty sweet also!

One And Done - Rime Giants! Why don't we ever see these guys again! Also, a freakin' dragon with enchanted breath no less!!!

'Nuff Said - "Mortals! How like chattering monkeys you are!!"-Thor

  1. my first little mini-run with all this Thor stuff
2. the artwork on the rainbow bridge is fantastic
3. really entertaining battle with Heimdall
4. i really like the villain and im looking forward to seeing him through the years
5. thor new power discovery rate reaching alarming levels
6. once again Lieber's art on the second story is excellent...very gritty

So in the previous story Thor is shocked that anyone would think he robbed a bank and was ill-tempered, and yet this story starts out with him on a mindless rampage and he basically tells humanity that he cares nothing for them.

Nice to see the Avengers pop in, as far as some sort of continuity goes, but they're pretty ineffective. The rest of the tale is a setup for the part 2, so we'll see what happens.

As for the Tales of Asgard story, the shot of Thor turning into a tree was awesome!

Just a few issues ago we got our very first cliff hanger (in an Ant Man tale) and now we`re being treated to the same in Thor over even more issues. Fun!

Really good issue with interesting twists. I liked Thor's rampage and weakening him because of previous deeds. Finally it feels like single issues make one big story of the main character.
One question only: when The Tomorrow Man threatens that he will destroy the Earth if Thor don't go with him to the future, wouldn't he destroy the future itself?

why is Odin so dumb and is even listening to what Loki has to say about Thor...he knows how much Loki hates his Brother....and why is Loki Roaming freely around in Asgard and not imprisoned or isolated...but other then that good first Part...

  wingot Says:

The tantrum was good, and involving the other Avengers was a surprise (and for once not billed on the cover). But when did Odin become an idiot? First last story with the misunderstanding of Jane's purpose, then this one with not understanding that Thor lost because of Odin's doing? Would make a sort of sense if Odin is "watching without audio" or something, but it's clear that audio comes across as well at other times.

Badass cover, but didn't care for the way Thor was drawn on the splash page.

Iron Man clearly has more than enough money to fix that dude's truck, but I wonder where he keeps his wallet in that suit of armor?

  • That’s my line – “I'll contact Iron Man! It may take us both to calm Thor down!” (Giant-Man) – Hey Hank, why take Janet with you then?

  • I agree with everyone about the great cover. Nicely done!

  • It bothers me that when super-heroes act like villains on a rampage, no one punishes them.

  • Giant-Man making excuses to the truck driver is hilarious. “Lemme take care of this! See? Brand new! Thor says he’s sorry! Kay?” It’s also funny Iron Man now carries some cash to pay for the damage. Cah-chiiing!!

  • If Odin keeps saying Thor is his favorite son right in front of Loki, no wonder the other son turned bad! That's bad parenting!

  • Wait! Loki can walk freely in Asgard now? Man, the penal system sucks just as much in Asgard as it does in New-York!

  • Why not ask his friends the Avengers for help taking down the robot? Yeah… I know... To make a better solo story!

  • Not bad, but I’m growing wee bit tired of the Odin-Jane issue. 3 stars.

  Billstar2 Says:

A little slow but a decent story overall. Thor must not be thinking straight over the Jane/humbling thing. Just about any hero could take the poor man's Kang and his mining robot. The Avengers, Fantastic Four, or maybe even Spidey.

  kent18 Says:
  2016-11-12 10:15:28
Man oh man, is that Kirby/Roussos art team sweet or WHAT -- ?!?

Thor's public snit fit/door-slamming session was adroitly handled by Lee; the whole thing could so very easily have ended up making him look like a sulky tweener girl who'd just been told she couldn't go to the mall with Tiffany and Brittney this weekend. (I did have to snicker at one point, however, when a blase Giant-Man phlegmatically assures a motorist whose truck Thor has just totaled "Now, don't get excited, fella! No harm done!" Hank, dude... the entire front half of the poor guy's rig was just knocked seventy-five feet the hell down the friggin' *street* -- !) ;)

I've also never quite managed to grasp the whole "Zarrko" thing, to be quite honest. I mean: he knows the secret of time travel... has a giant "indestructible" robot, armed with disintegration beams... and lives in a future where (we are repeatedly assured) "no one else possesses any sort of weaponry." So explain again to me exactly WHY he needs Thor in order to take over the world, in his era...?

Those two nits are the only things knocking this issue down from what would have been an easy five stars, to a final grade of four instead.
