  -"Gunga galunga...gunga--gunga galunga."
-Basically a retelling of some earlier Kane stories, but this one's got style.

Deducting a star, sinc it is basicly a retelling

The "brutal, gorilla-worshipping human-sacrificing Africans" wouldn't have been considered a bad old stereotype by readers... READERS IN 1928, when Howard wrote this story. In later years (not that he had many) he actually tried to make up for these stereotypes with more sympathetic black characters. When Marvel printed a B&W version of this same story in the mid-70s I was like... OK, you got the rights to Solomon Kane and there are only SO many Kane stories, so you retold Red Shadows. Now, 10 years later they're doing it again! I mean, not all Solomon Kane stories are this problematic; he's at his best when he's fighting supernatural menaces in other locales, or pirates -- not doing the "darkest Africa" schtick. And I can tell from looking ahead in this series that they had Macchio write some brand-new stories -- so why include Red Shadows? It's not like it's necessary to understand Kane's highly fragmented story. And it's embarassing in 1985, in full color, in the first issue.
