Issue Synopsis

When an Allied patrol is attacked by Nazi U boats in the Atlantic, a distress call is sent to Sub-Mariner. Speaking with patrol commander, they wonder how mere two-man submarines could be able to cruise this far from land.

Namor grabs a few bombs and swims to the enemy subs to place them inside their torpedo tubes so they detonate when the Nazis fire. When all but one are destroyed, Sub-Mariner hitches a ride on the last one as it goes back to base.

To his surprise, the U-boat takes Namor to the bottom of the ocean where he discovers an undersea city. Going through the water lock, he enters a futuristic city but is welcome by a strange creature called Shark-Man who uses a wire gun to tie the hero up and capture him.

Shark-Man explains to the Sub-Mariner that he was created by Nazi scientists to deal specifically with the Prince of the Sea in his element.

The monstrous creature injects Namor with a serum that will make him hydrophobic, which apparently works as the hero backs off from any form of water. Shark-Man shows Namor a powerful machine that is designed to literally suck Allied ships to the bottom of the sea using a gigantic whirlpool.

As he gets the news of an Allied convoy approaching, Shark-Man locks Sub-Mariner up in a room, turning the water on to kill him with fear, then leaves to deal with the coming ships. When the villain is gone, Namor no longer needs to put an act, as it turns out the serum did not work at all. He escapes then attacks the Nazis who get in his way as he rushes towards the infernal machine.

After Namor switches the machine to reverse, Shark-Man grabs the hero and pulls him into a water tank with him, still believing Namor will die of fear from the serum. The hero gives him a reality check, also informing him that the machine in reverse mode will suck the air out of the city and collapse. Then he leaves as the whole undersea construction implodes on the Nazis.
