This is good stuff. Not a story, exactly, but a narrative with a large scope.

It casts it's net wide, but holds the interest and entertains.

9/10

Really strange. I wonder how much of this correctly rooted in Norse Mythology. Hopefully Stan did his homework.

Meh. These Asgard stories make me wonder if they were running out of ideas for Thor, or wanting an excuse to host a history lesson. Either way, not something I look forward to.

Short and sweet. I was wondering when the frost giants would be introduced.

Stan Lee seems to know his stuff. This is actually really close to the material provided by the Poetic Edda. Looking forward to reading more.

Norse Mythology 101 was very interesting and Iím truly looking forward to next issue. It gives the feeling that Stan was fond of the subject, which bodes well, and from what Iíve Googled on the matter, he did his homework. Iím hopeful that these tales will be instructive and a nice incursion into a very old culture. 4 stars!

Nice Norse history lesson but I wish it were longer.

How do I even rate this? It's a thing. I'm glad it exists.

Is Stan saying that, in Earth-616, the Vikings created their gods? Or are we switching back and forth between our world and 616, or what?

Many many years ago I had a book on Norse mythology, supposedly translated directly from the Norse writings into English. Of course, a fair amount of meaning can be lost or changed in the translation process, but it was quite a heady read for a kid, so I don't remember a lot of it. From this first story, I think Stan tried to base much of it on the original myths as much as he could, but it wouldn't surprise me if he took a few liberties with the story and adapted it into MU-616 continuity.

Much in the same way that Dr. Strange stories occupy but a few pages in "Stange Tales" yet still manage to carve out their own unique niche by covering subjects such as Eastern mysticism, transcendental meditation and black magic, Tales of Asgard occupies a few pages in "Journey into Mystery" yet carves out its unique niche by covering Norse mythology. Good start to this feature and I'm looking forward to reading more of these.

Oh, yes, how desperately I've been waiting for THIS much-beloved, fondly remembered feature to finally kick in!

Jack Kirby's pencils on this initial ToA installment -- rendered with an appropriately "weathered" look by George Rousos -- is nothing short of revelatory, really. Each and every panel pulses and glows as though crafted from burnished metal. Kirby made several Storm Giant-sized artistic strides forward throughout his tenure on this crucial backup strip, and you'll all be seeing the fruits of those showing up in future issues of FANTASTIC FOUR and AVENGERS, among other places.

Five stars just seems so... *inadequate*, somehow...
