The ending is what makes this.

It's really just a basic story of Thor on a mission.

But it's well told. Fast-paced and with plenty of action.

Only at the end do we learn what the mission actually is.

8/10

Poor Gullin... done in by the dreaded "size matters" complacency.

-Could this be an ultra-rare mention of Midgard without the annoying asterisk that says "Earth." Man, I'm tired of seeing that.

Now I know why Darcy mispronounces Mjolnir as Mirmir. Cool Easter egg in the movie.

Lame human origin story is lame. Think this is my first one star rating in the order. The fights were reasonable but the setup and payoff just felt so contrived.

  • That’s my line – “…behind the mystic fountain which feeds all the world’s oceans, Thor finds the one he seeks!” (Narrator) – From the size of it, it is pretty hard to believe!

  • Great looking dragon on page 2!

  • Now, the gods comparing the size of their hammers! Never saw that one coming! GroovyGolem, you’ve damaged my brains!

  • Again, that is so different from the rest of the Marvel universe. Very colorful myth on the origins of man. It was interesting to learn that Thor took some part in that creation. Loved it. 4 stars!

I guess we should be glad it wasn't the 'I can beat you because I have two hammers' bit. Maybe the weakest Asgard story so far.

I'm running out of breathless superlatives for these "Tales of Asgard" backups! ;) Have I used "magnificent" yet? Let's say I haven't, and go with that. Magnificent.

Ok, it's nice as a little piece of Norse mythology, but should it really be canon in the order?

I guess that is why they call them Tales. I don't suppose they are meant to be taken literally any more than the very existence of Asgard because they are part of the whole mythology. Yet they do belong in that fantastic Universe, regardless of the contradictions they pose between all the mythologies.

Cool that Thor helped create Adam and Eve.
