I haven't been keeping up with comics over the past several years, but I heard that the Human Torch died. It wasn't cancer was it? He slept in an asbestos bedroom. |

Whatever it is, could we please keep the spoilers to a minimum? Thanks.
Despite the whole secret identity thing (wasn't he just at a special banquet at the capitol without a disguise this same month in FF #7?), it was cool to see what Johnny can do with his flame. Shooting fireballs, controlling nearby flames, etc? I had no idea! |

So, everybody wants Torch's own magazine, why not then?
Hmm, we must make it as a Torch magazine, not more of FF with only him, so let's think: We could give him a new enviroment, a new town perharps, some friends from college too, and we could mess up everything about Ff identity being known to all, yes me'be only in his city people doesn't know who the Fantatis Four really are, hey, why not, this will be a stunt!!!
Oh dear, this is the worst story do far in the order!!!! |

This was just plain awful. The Fantastic Four are national icons and the citizens somehow don't know Johnny Storm is the Human Torch? Are they living under a rock? It wouldn't have been that big of a deal, but they kept desperately reminding the reader that his identity is secret now. Add on cheesy communist villains and their idiotic motive, and you get a 1 star rating. |

Ah the Torch's solo series, the first spin-off comic in Marvel's growing Universe and sadly not a good one. I personally his series is worse off than Ant-Man, atleast starting out.
A lot has to do with the above mentioned "secret identity" issue that mucks with early continuity (and you thought that was just a modern problem). But there's also yet another Commie plot, unimaginative villain, and some very liberal use of powers to boot.
Still, props to the floor plan of Johnny's Room (and early use of asbestos before we found out it sucked), I still can't get enough of those in my comics! |

so... not only does the Human Torch ALL OF A SUDDEN keep his identity secret (even though everyone saw him in DC recently), he also sleeps in an asbestos bedroom and... goes to school? If his identity is secret, how does he explain his constant absence to his teachers? Because surely he spends most of his time in the FF. Poor show.
Another point. The first note says that he will attack the park if the construction doesn't stop. Then, the park is attacked. The next day the second note says "I attacked the park nearly killing a man". Their reaction? "It must be a coincidence".
How does one become a rollercoaster rider expert?
COMMIES! of course |

The commie newspaper editor would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for that meddling Human Torch. |

Bluh Bluh Blush. This issue is NASTY. It's the kind of issue that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. One star is too good for this bullshit. |

Well, we're back. This comic was somwhat disappointing, and thoug my son's aqttention was there throughout, nothing in the story really grabbed his attention. The most excited he got was when the Thing showed up briefly.
I can't say much more abut this story that others haven't already said. It just isn't a very memorable story. |

I feel this issue could have been a lot better if it hadn't played out like an episode of Scooby-Doo. |

More talk of asbestos and Commies... I finally know what the crap my dad was always talking about. It was nice to see The Thing pop in on him to offer his help. |
