Issue Review

Damn, this is a good thriller. It zips along, with a palpable sense of urgency and plenty of action. Sure, the ending falls into place a bit too neatly but itís still a terrific read. 9/10

Psychedelica 101. Plot isn't flawless, but some of that art, yummy!

All I could think of while I read this was how great Steranko art would have been on those hallucinations. he'll be missed here.

This series is not what I expected it would be, but it's pretty damn good regardless. Great issue.

Not Steranko, but not bad. If he set the example for some of these other artists to follow, I'll take it. The story itself was pretty good. Nothing like seeing Fury tripping balls for an entire issue.

Another Steranko cover. Artwork is old fashioned as far a people and machines go. This issue is a drug-induced trip and some the art ideas are very good; they aren't very well executed. Lots of hypno spirals and concentric circle "overlays", which I did enjoy. The story idea has been done often and this is entirely predictable and corny. The best part is viewing Fury's consistent resolve. (1)

I realise that to compare anyone else to Jim Steranko is to compare apples and those tiny Ritter Sport chocolates, but that doesn't mean I ain't doin' it. One star, just sort of by default.

This was a great issue, I felt. Ripping off Steranko is better than being a regular old boring ish. That cover though, it's a Dali-esque masterpiece.

A Steranko vibe ... But this artist made it his own. 4 stars. This was awesome.

Was prepared to be disappointed post Steranko but Springer did a pretty good job to be fair. Some really cool framing.

This is just trippy. Makes me really glad there weren't any pink elephants.

Looks like I'm with the majority so far. Springer did a stand-up job here, and I thought the story does a good job of trying to get that 60s spy vibe going again. Better than the last issue.

  Russ Says:

Nick tunes in, turns on, and nearly drops out. Waaaaaay out. The visuals do a good job in ratcheting up the threat level even though the story itself was kind of meh. I really have to give Frank Springer credit; he's filling some big shoes in the art department and is really doing a nice job.

3 stars. I'd like to see what's happening with Val really soon, though.

I really liked Frank Springer's inks over his own pencils. There's something very evocative of Klaus Janson and Bill Siekiewicz's earlier work. I wonder if they were influenced by Springer. Also great colors this issue. Anyone know if Stan Goldberg did the colors on this one? Marie Severin?

3 stars for Fury goin on a Magical Mystery Tour!!!

Cover Me - Like others have said above...a very surreal cover!!!

Splash - Great image of Fury falling through a stained glass window!!!

Road Trippin' - I love the fact that SHIELD uses a Volkswagen van!!!

Touched By An Angel - I think it would've been better if Fury saw Pamela Hawley in Sister Angela!

'Nuff Said - "Ya can't trust your instincts if you're drugged!"-Nick Fury
