The origin of Scott continues. And exciting it is. Impossible not to feel sympathy for the poor frightened teen as he goes on the run. Good cliffhanger, too. 8/10

2 stars for Cyclops, whose future's so bright, He's gotta wear shades!!!

Prescription - @Donuil23: Cyclops mentions being immune to his blasts back in XM #26.

Spoiler Alert - The next issue blurb mentions the first mutant...oh, I didn't know Apocalypse appeared this early in the order!!!

'Nuff Said - "Why, of course I remember Scott Summers...and the secret report I wrote about him for the FBI! So--?"-Hypocrite Optometrist

The Cyclops origin story was actually rather entertaining.

I like the optometrist... He helps his patients with seemingly random treatments ("I finally tried ruby quartz glasses, which seemed to help though I don't know why!") and then he narcs on them to the FBI! So much for Doctor/patient confidentiality!

Also, why did Xavier bother talking to him? Couldn't he have just read his mind and learned everything he needed to?

Those cops arrived just in time. It looks like Werner Roth was ready to take things down a dark path for our hero! Am I the only one who thought of "Deliverance"? ("You shore do got a purty mouth...")

Recommended reading for this issue: "Sunglasses at Night" by Corey Hart. Don't masquerade with the guy in shades!

This isn't a bad start to the Cyclops origin story. I don't think we see Apocalypse or Mr. Sinister here (more on them much later) but it should be interesting to see where this goes.
