The police imprisones the Daredevil and do not unmask him while he is being unconscious. Unbelievable. Another rather dull episode of Daredevil.

So his genius decision is to dress Daredevil up as the Ox... and it works, sigh. Liked the ending in regards to the original Ox.

Had been looking for this one a long time ago I always wanted to know how the Beast got to go from Hank long toes to the Beast we all know and love.

It annoys me when DD recognizes someone by the sound of their footsteps instead of their scent.
This issue was quite bad, but I liked the ending.

I never ran into this issue before, so the twist in the Ox's identity was a nice touch for me.

man, all the stuff with the cops arresting Daredevil was horrible....... I don't think i even need to go into detail...... man I can't wait for this book to get better, right now it's only steps away from me skipping it all together......

righhhhht... so the DA is debating whether the cops can remove a mask before putting someone in a holding cell on suspicion of a crime??? Really? Liked the real Ox's 2nd chance at the end. just 2 *.

Stan makes a philosophical statement about bodies and minds that lines up with what he's been doing to Bruce Banner lately: if your consciousness is in a hulking, brutish body, it too will become hulking and brutish. Luckily for male Marvel heroes, gender- swaps hadn't become common yet, or they might find themselves becoming inexorably obsessed with shopping, sewing, and catching Thor's eye.
Stan also gives himself a no-prize for adding five modifying clauses to the sentence "Karl Stragg runs amok."
Matt finally realizes that "the one emotion my radar-sense can't define is love!" after a few issues of getting confused about what Karen's rapid heart rate means.
Karen continues to act in her role as inadvertent radar-chaff by screaming a lot more than other Marvel characters. Oh, the tragic irony.
Daredevil manages not to kill anyone by pulling the "oh no don't run right towards the edge, I better dodge so you don't hit me, look out beloooow" move.

Really..?!? Are we back to this again..?!? “Had the Ox been intelligent he'd be the most dangerous foe every!” and BOOM...now DD faces Ox and guess what..? YUP...He's intelligent !!! Just plain ol' silver age silliness.
OK...interesting story...it wasn't that great but I liked the little twist at the end.

An astonishingly stupid issue of Daredevil barely saved by an unexpectedly sweet ending. Daredevil is probably the silver age comic that I look forward to the least when doing this. I always dread seeing a thought bubble pop up because I know it's going to be some cornball "romance" and/or a condescending comment on Matt's blindness.

Kind of enjoyed this typical 1960's Marvel Comic, and it was even better than the usual Daredevil comics. And then... page 14.

I didn't think this issue was too bad. Look at the stupidity of police officers these days... I have no doubt they'd make the mistake of arresting DD, but of course they'd have discovered his identity. Outside this shall nuance, it was a decent issue. 3 stars. Getting better.

Just 2 stars for the Ox and Dr. Stragg mix up mash up meeting of the minds!

Keystone Kops - Besides the above mentioned mistakes by the cops. I liked that after the cops find DD in Ox's clothes they mention how cleaver and tricky it was to find him.....right after Ox/Stragg just tore up a whole city block!!!

Clothes Make The Man - Odd that DD didn't take off Ox's clothes right away...

'Nuff Said - "I'm all ready for you now, Ox!"-Dirty Dr. Stragg

Although his body dies in this issue, the Ox's intellegence & personallity continue in the body of Karl Stragg. (In other words, he's now completely useless as a character.)

All of these overblown story titles makes me think Stan has been reading far too many Ray Bradbury short stories.

I was actually disappointed that Stragg/Ox died in the end. All of that set-up only to kill him off before they've even utilized him as a character? Seemed a bit premature. At least pit him against the Hulk.

On Pg8/P4, I couldn't help think of that old Bugs Bunny cartoon "Hot Cross Bunny" where the doctor tries to switch Bugs' brain with that of a chicken. Yuk yuk!

The ridiculousness of Daredevil's arrest almost made me literally face-palm. Why the hell would DD put on his Daredevil costume underneath his "Ox disguise" if he was actually trying to impersonate the Ox? These cops are worse than Nigel Bruce's Dr. Watson at deductive reasoning.

I'm just surprised even a guy as dumb as the Ox bought two pieces of every item of clothing he wears! He must really like those clothes!

We have a great idea, poorly executed. They could have run this to two issues by having Stragg take more time to build the personality transporter and having the Ox getting angrier and angrier. Then we could have had more time for perhaps a battle with DD and the cops. As it was, the story was rushed and fell flatter than a pancake.

I liked this. It was a nice change of pace to see a returning villain I didn't like actually die (rather than get sent into space/Microverse/the past/etc).

  • That's my line – "The very sight of your body offends me! I despise weakness!" (Dr. Stragg)

  • As marvelcomicslover notes, once again, just after a hero mentions or remembers an old foe, that foe invariably shows up. I know, it happens sometimes in real life and Stan probably does this for the benefit of readers who missed the issue. But using this method each time to reintroduce a character shows a lack imagination. And in this story, Matt's observation that Ox would be hard to defeat if he were intelligent is too contrived.

  • Also, isn't it very strange coincidence that Dr. Stragg was working on a device that switches bodies?

  • I too find it very unlikely that the police would not take Daredevil's mask off. It would go against any arrest procedure.

  • I hated the whole ridiculous plot of dressing up Daredevil as the Ox. But somehow, I really liked the twist in the end where the bodies tend to revert to their original personalities and the Ox intends to reform. But boy, does the rest of the story suck! Only Romita's pencils saved this one from my initial score of 2 stars.
