#3 is far-fetched stuff. Requiring major leaps of faith to accept much of the story. 5/10

I liked this idea better when it was developped in a couple of issues with the New mutants in Brazil, all though the village was roman instead of greek, here it seems rushed.

It is so very very silly, and yet here I am giving it four stars. I'm a sucker for this kind of pulpy, wacky stuff.

Nice shot at the lost civilizations genre.

How many undiscovered-pocket-civilizations can there be in the Marvel Universe? This is so silly. But it was - kinda - well done here. I don't know if the Phototaurus thing will be better explained later, but frankly, I don't really care.

"I hate killing, even if it is in self defense!" Since when woman? You are a murder machine!
Story was fun, but I'm a sucker for the historical angle. You'd figure with all these white people running around in their underwear, some of them would at least get a tan.

Shanna's hair has been a completely different colour on every cover so far...

2 stars for Shanna facing her fears and grabbing the bull by horns!!!

Splash - Great image of Shanna gator wrasslin'...now all she needs is some mud!!!

Weaker Of The Sexes - Does Patrick McShane ever actually do anything??!!!

Nothing To Wear - @MattzLadd: Also, it seems her costume as well...

Cat Scratch Fever - On p12,p2 shows Biri attacking when it should be Ina!!!

Horndog - That glow from the cave was probably Zeus screwing around...

Bullseye - So, was the cloaked figure the imprisoned king, or the real bull-priest???

Bunch Of Bull - There is still that one fear-bull loose in the wild...

One And Done - The Phobostauros/Fear-Bull is a cool name and concept that someone has got to revisit!!!

'Nuff Said - "Your boss is not an equal opportunity employer, boys!"-Shanna the She-Devil

The stories don't have that extra bonkers ingredient to take them over the top and Andru & Colletta don't have the skill, or temperament, to at least make this enjoyable cheesecake.

.....and another would-be dictator gets put down thanks to the Might Marvel Propaganda Machine! This time, put away by a She-Devil named Shanna, as she gears up for her next visit to Pamplona to run with the bulls, whenever that is!

While the art was pretty sharp and a typical Shanna comic of the time is reliable for a good amount of action, this one had a lot in common with the early Marvel stories about the hero putting down the despot-du-jour. I appreciate Shanna giving as good as she gets, and is rebuffing the flirtations of Patrick unlike most of Marvel's husband-hunting females, but the title really isn't offering anything outstanding. It's not horrible, but I can see why this had a short run.

2 stars. I don't know about you guys, but I had the Eagles' deep-cut "Greeks Don't Want No Freaks" running through my head while reading this.

That was surprisingly more accurate on what we know about Minoan society than I expected. Although King Minos was mythical and it was just the original "archaeologist" who thought Knossos looked like the labyrinth from the story. But I expected much worse. This makes my inner archaeology student a little happy.

I've actually really liked this series, and I agree with some of the sentiments - the stories are a little too rushed. The last two comics have had great premises, dealing with slavery and sacrifice etc, but the previous comic ended up devoting the last third of its pages to chasing a fat man through the camp, whereas this comic tied up the entire story within a couple of pages of the villain introducing himself.

This story could have genuinely been spread over two comics easily - in fact I assumed it definitely would be and wondered why Shanna 4 is later on in the reading list. Now I know.

However, I've still totally enjoyed these more than the earlier Cap and Iron Man entries from the 70s. At least the former is back on track now.

3 stars!
