Zodiac (a large, mostly uninteresting group) hatch an odd plan.
Two lame battles and a strangely unexciting cliffhanger.
The Gemini character and the mechanics of the group's odd plan are the best parts. That and the use of the murder/fugitive storyline in Captain America to set something else up here. That's pretty neat. But the Mantis cliffhanger stumps me. Surely this is a dilemma than can easily be solved by Thor or Iron Man next issue?
5/10

i dont agree, i like zodiac, i just dont like it when the bad guys totaly crush the heroes.. and then give them a second chance without any good reason. ( they had one.. but it was weak!)

  That was a mess.

Does anyone actually think that Zodiac is a legitimate threat to the Avengers?

Ok, I guess it's safe to say I'm not the only Zodiac hater here lol.

There's definitely potential with the Zodiac, but no they have yet to live up to it.
Threatening to blast Mantis off of the building is somewhat less dramatic when the Avengers have three members that can fly.
I'm impressed with how well Swordie has fit in since joining the Avengers. I really didn't think it would work at first, but he seems to have meshed well.

Bonus star for "duodecimate." Otherwise, a pretty meh issue.

I think I'm in the "Zodiac has potential"camp, but this issue was a bit of a mess, with horrid art.
Taurus speaks like he never finished high school, which doesn't really line up with being the laden of an international lead of supervillains. I can picture a 2-bit villain like the Steeplejack under Taurus' costume, given his personal dialogue.

The core problem with Zodiac is that they have zero personality. Aside from Gemini it's essentially just a bunch of random people in suits that we know nothing about and never really get to see do anything. You could replace them with generic goons and not change anything about the story.

  - That is a sad splash page introducing the full Zodiac

- I think these guys best appearance was their entry in Handbook of the Marvel Universe

- What is so strange about Mantis' grip? Does she go commando under that frock?

- As a Gemini I've never felt so personally invested in the outcome of a comic before

- After the previous reveal of the villain in Captain America I'm guessing Taurus is Kissinger

- Duodecimate is a fun word

- Taurus' speech is uncultured, I think that is a nice touch of texture

- Now Playing "Gemini" Boards of Canada

Recommended listening for this issue: "Your Horoscope for Today" by Weird Al.

Any Geminis here that live in Manhattan? Sure, the plot has been thwarted, but I just want to make sure you all are safe!

But really, commenters have said it already, this wasn't one of the better stories in the Avengers so far, and a bit of a disappointment after some pretty good arcs in the Order lately. This could've been done five years prior and had a little more punch. But now, it just seems ordinary. Not one of Steve Englehart's better efforts; maybe the guy's just tapped out since he seems to be carrying a majority of the titles single-handed.

2 stars.

How exactly do you create a weapon that targets people based on what part of the year they were born in? They seem to be asking me to believe in astrology - people who shoot lasers from their eyes, no worries, but astrology is a step too far.

It's nice to see the bad guys showing signs of teamwork and leadership for a change, but they're still stupidly broadcasting their evil plans to the heroes.

2 stars. I hate doing this, but if I'm ever going to get through the order. I'm going to have to shorten my comments. One thing I will point out though, is that Taurus says he's speaking like that. So that the others won't know who he is. Even though Gemini now knows what he looks like.

Thank you for all your hard work over the last zillion issues! Hopefully this means I won't be passing you in the order. Still not used to having you comment after Russ and Katryn. Here's to the next 10 zillion comics! My order profile says I have 15 more years or something to "catch up" to 2014.

Unrelated to the above, I remember liking the psychedelic first appearance of Scorpio back under the command of Steranko when he was a Nick Fury villain. That was a much more ambitious character than those found comprising this collection of cosplayers. Too bad!

Thanks for the kind words. Lately I've been adding more to my comments, but I'm still slow at putting them up. Life has thrown a lot of curveballs, knuckleballs, and spitballs at me recently.

Well you're a staple of the order now. Take it easy and here's hoping you have an easier pitcher at the mound in life's next inning.

Cheers.
