Epic-scale stuff: Starts with the group trapped in space. Great use of Thor's Achilles heel. Love the final panel, too. Lots of little hints about what might be coming in future issues. Stuff guaranteed to make you want to come back for more. 9/10

This is the first time I ever really enjoyed a Zodiac comic. I hope this is the last we've seen of them though.

I'm starting to believe George Lucas was a Marvel fan!

I think that Englehart would have been happy to change this title to Mantis and the Avengers. Personally, I don't like the character of Mantis and do not believe she is worth all of the time being spent on her.

  Meh, still not impressed.

I dunno, I like all the little side plots running through the series right now. Even when the main story is a little meh, there are still cool things going on.
I liked that when Thor reverted to Blake (why is Blake still around again?) that the other Avengers didn't even question why he had to hide, they just took their stance of protecting him.

A lot of inconsistencies here. But whatever, I actually enjoyed this one.

Really you should look up englehart and the mantis on google sometime to see how far his mantis obsession went, he brought her to like 3 different comic companies and like 10 different titles... that guy REALLY liked mantis.

I think you mean "that guy REALLY LOVED Mantis."

I remember reading an interview he did in the late 80's/early 90's and he went on and on about Mantis. After reading it, I thought it explained a lot. I've always disliked Mantis and never understood why she got center attention.

The cover shot of the heroes breaking through the page seemed to get popular in the order around this time.

Hey, I don't think Mantis is that bad a character, really. She is mysterious, and Englehart actually did a good job developing her, so I can understand his infatuation to a degree. The only thing I don't like is that the Avengers did accept her into their ranks a little too fast, especially since she was in the company of a known adversary at the time. With her origin story coming up, we might get an explanation as to her persuasiveness toward the heroes.

Pretty crazy issue, though. The warehouse-inside-the-rocketship thing seemed too out there, even for Marvel. I did get a kick out of seeing Thor in agony on the splash page as the rocket escaped Earth's gravity pull. This is a guy who's already had adventures in outer space, for cryin' out loud! I'm not sure the way Steve Englehart took him out of the fight (throwing his hammer out into space) was that plausible either.

3 stars. The warehouse structure is made of wood; of course it's going to burn up on re-entry into the atmosphere, Tony! And you're the technological genius of the bunch?

I liked Thor being an idiot with his hammer. He does tend to smack things with it as a solution to all problems, so it had to come back to bite him one of these days.

3 stars. Some No Prizes - Aries talks in 3rd person (p5,p2), and Iron Man calls Scorpio...Scorpion (p18,p6).

'Nuff Said - "If you read that in your stars, Van Lunt, you need a new horoscope!"-Vision
