The weaknesses of the WBN format drag it down somewhat, but itís otherwise an enjoyable issue. Moody, atmospheric. And Topaz is an interesting character. 7/10

Good to see more crossovers in these series, even if they're characters that don't interest me a huge amount at the moment.

Ok, I'm not sure how precious the life of a potential rapist is, seems more like divine justice to me that he was killed. What's up with Dracula throwing werewolf and turning him into a bloodied heep? I thought only silver could really hurt a werewolf. Why is he so vulnerable to marginal super strength? I also thought it was pretty lame that pulling a tab in a book led them to Drac's castle, that was just lame!

Not a bad crossover, although the Werewolf got more time in Dracula's mag than Drac did.

While werewolves can only be killed by silver, they can still be harmed by normal means. If it helps, think of it as the same as Wolverine. He can't be hacked up, blown up, etc, but it wont kill him.
My question is, shouldn't the werewolf change when the sun goes down, not when he's struck by moonbeams? Otherwise he wouldn't turn at all when indoors.

Poorly explained reason for the werewolf to be in Transylvania, felt very forced.

This was a step down for the series

Gene Colan's art looked like he wasn't very excited by the concept either

This stinks of editorial decree

Why is the Werewolf so weak? Everyone gets their licks in

I'm in the minority here, but I do like this crossover so far. The only issue I have with it is, even with his curse, I'm not sure of the feasibility of Jack's father having any connections in Transylvania. Oh well, just go with it, Russ.

So, I believe that the werewolf can be hurt normally; heck, we've seen it several times in his series so far since it seems like anyone can beat him up. Yet, he seems to be holding his own against Dracula. And of course, that drunk horndog sailor was no match for him. That's probably the biggest flaw in the way the werewolf has been portrayed, the inconsistent level of his power, that's kept me from enjoying the series.

3 stars. I think I'm starting to really like Topaz though. She's a hottie, and can take care of herself without the intervention of a male. Why aren't more women in Marvel like her?

Topaz is doing much better than I expected - hell, she held off Dracula!

I loved these when I was a kid. I purchased these with my allowance and borrowed the superhero comics from my friend.i find they still hold up well but I am old😩

As big a fan of Gene's work as I am, I'm disappointed in his Werewolf by Night. Then again, I'd probably be disappointed in Ploog's Tomb of Dracula. We'll see, I guess.

Also, look at the angle Harkness is using to stab Blade. Try it yourself. Awkward, isn't it? You can't get any power into it. Even in a wheelchair it would be better to hold the stake normally and bring it down hard without twisting the wrist. Don't you even ergonomics?

Missing this issue: Brave Vampire Hunters and Doctor Sun.

Still, I liked the story enough to give it...

Three stars.
