10 pages for a dream sequence is excessive!! Yikes. Once that is out of the way, there's some so-so action. The best thing about this is the building up of - what I assume are - the supporting cast. 5/10

That was mostly stupid, and the Gateway to the West looked more like the Arc de Trioumphe, but that panel after Michelangelo was worth a full star.

The battle between satan and son was pretty good. Enjoyable issue.

I'm liking Daimon more as the one amalgamated person as opposed to switching personalities, that always feels silly to me.
Satan was defeated a little easily, but other than that I enjoyed this one.

I'm extremely impressed by Mooney's art - he's very creative at both the layouts and the images, including that great riff on Michaelangelo's Creation of Adam.

And although Daimon still kind of bores me, Gerber's writing is strong - he doesn't treat the reader like you're too dumb to follow the artwork and need the characters to explain what's going on to you, which makes for much smoother dialogue.

Katherine is SO dumb. "Something is weird with this half-man, half-fallen angel, who clearly said, many times, he is the son of Satan, right to my face. But I just can't figure out what exactly..."

Expected more out of Satan in this fight. He seemed to be taken out a little to easy.

I'm liking Daimon more than I thought I would. There always seems to be something holdin the stories back though. Katherine isn't helping either.

Interesting wardrobe choice for the professor.

I'm enjoying seeing stories set in my hometown. Based on the Grand Ave location, Gateway U seems to be a stand-in for Saint Louis University, which has haunting/possession stories of its own.

Still needs a supporting cast, but the character now has potential.

"She suspects me...Else why would she seek my company when I've treated her so poorly" So whenever a girl dates a complete asshole, it's because she suspects him of being the Son of Satan? Interesting...

Recommended listening for this story: "Black Sabbath" by, who else? Black Sabbath. Nothing like hearing Ozzy scream "Please God help me" while Daimon's dreaming, eh?

Well, when you become a goat-thing, you're going to get your rear kicked, even by your own son. Remember that next time you want to win family members and influence people.

2 stars. I see the potential for Daimon as well, but it's not really being tapped. Katherine isn't helping matters, either; she's being portrayed as a sidekick, and it won't be long before she's constantly imperiled too. Here's hoping Steve Gerber's penchant for satire and off-kilter storytelling works for this series.

I think my problem with Son of Satan so far is he's kind of been another Ghost Rider with sillier stories. But on the plus side, no one has tried to sacrifice Dr Reynolds yet.
