Issue Review

Messy.
Seems quite random, made up as it goes along.
The return to LA is quite a jolt. And it renders everything before that quite meaningless.
The hero's activities for the next month seem pointless and useless.
His inability to remember when the moon is coming is just plain ridiculous. A writer trying to contrive a situation of peril. Yawn.
2/10

A random monster of clay. How exciting, especially combined with the oddities of this issue.
'We must have stood there for hours.'
...really?

That Topaz girl sure faints from the strain a lot, it can't be good.

Hey, one of the French cops is Moebius! Perhaps Friedrich is a Blueberry fan, or something.

It's official, this title is now worse than Daredevil.

A werewolf who doesn't pay attention to the lunar cycle.

I have no words.

I thought we were past having panels where the werewolf looks like an ape, but apparently not.
Is that Thunder guy supposed to be scary? Though I give him props for best body type for Comicon cos-play.
I know that the Werewolf is the crux of the series, but is there really nothing happening in between these 4 week time skips?

Did Topaz change Jack back to human form? No way that fight took all night.

They need to stop using the plot point of Jack not noticing the lunar cycle. He should have known it was 4 days last issue. I would have that mapped out for at least a year so I would know and could prepare.

Topaz is a solid character, unfortunately Jack is not.

  Russ Says:

This series is losing all its credibility. Jack's character isn't tracking the calendar, constantly providing inopportune changes when they're otherwise easy to predict, the werewolf can be beaten in a fight by my grandmother, and the battle with the behemoth couldn't have lasted more than 20 minutes. This has become a horribly written series with no thought being put into anything.

1 star. This stretch of werewolf stories is getting very brutal, and not in an entertaining way.

Aunt May would be a better werewolf. And they've written out the only interesting character, while simultaneously turning her into the damsel in distress. I know one day Marvel will be able to write competent female characters, but we're definitely not there yet.

Well, I've formulated a new rule. If I break out in actual laughter at the first sight of your new villain, you're getting a one star rating.

One star for Baron Thunder.

For a moment I was thinking two stars, because I've been away from WbN for a while and I appreciated the comprehensive catch-up on all the supporting cast.

Then I realized that said catch-up was just exposing the real reason Jack has so many secondary characters: More soap-opera nonsense in the background means less actual storytelling work for the writer. Mega boo; there's no reason for Werewolf by ☠☠☠☠ Night to have a bigger cast than Spider-Man.

Between that lazy storytelling and the already-mentioned strikes - writing out the one good female character, introducing a super-lame villain, and letting the full moon sneak up on Jack for the second month *in a row* - this is definitely a bottom of the barrel one-star affair.
