Some villains attack!
A pretty lazy way to generate a by-the-numbers battle-heavy issue.
Highlight: Thundra.
The most-interesting pairing is probably the Mister Fantastic Vs. The Sandman battle, since their powers are so similar.
Apart from that: it's all okay, if a bit predictable.
5/10

Hey, if Medusa can't stay, draft Thundra! Sue Who?

Last we seen her was she not trying to punch out the thing, now she is saving him... sounds like my wife.

Sure got a lot of explanations. I had no idea that the Trapster was Paste Pot Pete before... The dialogue treated the readers like they were newbies... What happened to the use of asterisks for explanations?

I usually really enjoy Frightful Four stories, but this was just average.

Why are they still calling themselves the Frightful Four when there are three of them? You'd think a "wizard" could count.
How exactly does the anti-grav disc incapacitate Reed? There is literally nowhere on his body that he can't reach to pull it off, and he doesn't need to be on the ground in order to fight since he just stretches.
Okay, at this point I'm really hoping that Namor is under someone's control as well, because I'm not seeing anything that happened between last issue and this one to merit an invasion.

OK, since you brought up chauvinism, Mr. Conway, let's talk about how we get Reed's feeling about his dissolving marriage, and Ben's perspective, and Johnny's - but we never spend any time with Sue and what she thinks. No surprise she feels unnecessary to the FF when the story is always leaving her out. I'm sure there will be a plot explanation for this but it makes the story much weaker.

Conway is clearly insecure about his lack of a college degree.

  - So far, the best thing about this run on FF is the return of Sandman's original costume

I'm starting to lose my patience with this arc.

Well, that was.....hmmm, actually, I'm not sure what to make of this one.

Usually, the Frightful Four makes for some pretty good stuff, but since Medusa left them they've been a shambles. The Wizard must be another one of Reed's old college classmates, because as good as he thinks he is, he's obsessed with learning all of Reed's secrets. Someone with his ego doesn't need Reed's secrets! Just ask DOOM!

So this story strikes me as nothing else beyond filler. Evil FF goes in with a half-baked plan to crack Reed's computer and doesn't count on the turncoat Thundra to gum up the works. I think Conway just wanted to stretch out the whole Sub-Mariner as homewrecker arc just to add to the tension. Reed and Co. leaving Atlantis without Sue doesn't strike me as in-character.

2 stars. Maybe it's Conway's typical approach to plotting but this arc so far just seems way off. I'll wait to finish reading the arc before I jump to any other conclusions.

Who's willing to bet that none of this will ever be mentioned in any other appearance of Namor outside the Fantastic Four? I somehow don't think that at the next meeting of the Defenders, Dr Strange is going to start with "So, I hear you and the Invisible Girl are a thing now. Shame about that surface world invasion, really calls into question whether you should be here or not, given we should really probably be stopping you from doing these things. Please remember that we have a Hulk before you start attacking the surface again."
