Issue Review
   August 8, 2013
Tigraís origin is convoluted and kinda silly, but the story is action-packed and kinda fun. The weakest link, by far, is the Werewolf By Night character. Tony Isabella does a fair job with him, but he really is an unusable character, due to the mechanics of his existence (He only appears for the three nights of the full moon, etc.) It just doesn't work in the Marvel Universe. And this story is a fine example because, midway through, we jump forward 24 hours and Jack is still hanging around on the beach (for some undisclosed reason). It just doesn't make sense. And this problem with using him in a story is one of the reasons I donít like the character. Luckily (for me) this story is mostly about Tigra, and I like her a lot. 8/10

Way to shove one origin story on top of another. Don't like the character, take 5 panels to make a new one to super-seed the old one.

Changing the origin so fast is sad, but I do prefer this Tigra to the Cat. Also, I know first-person narration is working for Jack in his own mag, but it feels strange having a character narrate the story and still knowing what his co-star is thinking all the time.

  Not good but not bad.

Decent story. I can't exactly provide the comment I was originally thinking of because I'm sure I'd get banned or something lol.

I'm not too certain what part of that Cat-People ceremony required the bikini...
Love the intro of Tigra, but overall the story was rather weak. Hydra wants to steal the black plague? Why? We can cure that now. And worst off was the poor werewolf who just spent the issue as a love sick puppy.

This one is really dumb. Secret race of cat people? A werewolf with a crush? Hydra's big plan to steal a sample of a disease that *still exists today* and is actually pretty treatable? This is lame even by WWbN standards.

So, the black plague is still a thing on Earth-616? Wonder why SHIELD scientists haven't made mention of it by now. Oh yeah, that's right; comics.

I was pretty disappointed in this story. It's significant not only for introducing Tigra, but establishing the Werewolf and Dracula into mainstream Marvel continuity, so I was expecting a little more, at least. It required a miraculous recovery from brain damage from Dr. Tumolo, one of HYDRA's most ludicrous plots, and a few retcons to make this happen.

Hey, can you blame the Werewolf for crushing on Tigra? Doggies seem to like kitties nowadays, in spite of what Tom and Jerry cartoons taught us as kids. Guess they do call it Puppy Love! But you'd think that little crush would leave a subconsious impression on Jack after he changes back. It could have some reprecussions in his own mag, especially in his love life. Missed opportunity there.

2 stars. A story like this should rank at least a 3, though. But at least I'm not recommending you smoke a little catnip before reading.

You shall be transformed into Tigra, and you must swear to never be fully-clothed again!

The Tigra transformation was weird, but it was nice to get a bit more character for the werewolf, so that's something.
