Issue Review

The same flaws exist (a dull hero and villains with vague, random powers) but this issue is simple and action-driven. On that basic level, it works. We begin with our hero (who loves to shout his own name when going into battle) trying to rescue Bobbi, failing at that and being captured. The rest of the issue is just about him escaping, which he does. Only to find himself in deeper trouble. Never mind, I bet he'll start the next issue by shouting out his own name. Truthfully, of the three main characters, it is Zabu who across the best. At least the villains are afraid of him. 5/10

I reckon the Marvel world is used to world-wide villain threats by now?

Apparently being intelligent means you know Judo. How strange.

I take back what I said last issue. This is pretty rancid.

The only things saving this title right now are that I legitimately like Ka-Zar and Zabu, and they're really quick reads.

I think I gave myself a concussion from the facepalm when Maa-Gor learned judo from being smart. Quick, someone get Stephen Hawking into the UFC!
I know that it's the norm for comics to have coloring problems from time to time, but how does a book get published with two panels where they completely forgot to put any colors on the main villain?! I guess the higher ups at Marvel were as interested in this comic as we are.

I would have given this two stars but the worldwide telepathy bit killed it for me. And voodoo apes could be cool, but will probably suck with this creative team.

Wasn't good, but it was perfectly readable.

Pretty long letter from Ralph Macchio in the lettercol

I've easily read worse than this arc, but yeah, the flaws here are too detracting. If Maa-Gor's telepathy is so strong, there's no need to tap into TVs and radios; just sway everyone mentally. No need to fight Ka-Zar either, or have El Tigre control Zabu. No need for El Tigre either. The guy is really Professor X with man-ape tendencies.

1 star. Yep, I learned rocket science from reading a book, too. Next project, martial arts. Off to the library!

I really don't like the Ka-Zar mentally controls Zabu plot development. Why make Zabu less cool? He's the best character in these stories!

It looks like the colorist forgot about MG on page 5. As if I need any more reason to dock stars from this nonsense issue.
