Has the usual Steve Gerber weirdness/inventiveness but lacks the usual depth.
Fun, though.
I like the tie-in with previous issues of THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

6/10

All hail The Golden Brain! I'm positive Yagzan was some kind of poke at Nixon. Not sure what the brain represented exactly, thoug

I usually like Man-Thing stories but this one was pretty bland and pretty boring. Gerber better stick to existentialism.

Even if the times were more innocent, how in the name of anything did the code approve this title.

Generally silly, but the fight between Man-Thing and Glob was surprisingly fun.

Man-Thing was doing OK up till this point. Didn't like this at all.

This is what happens when you mix in hidden political messages with a decent comic. It turns to crap!

I thought this was great. Im really enjoying most of Gerbers stuff.

And an extra star for the title because i'm immature.

I dunno, the entropists were pretty existential.

The problem with the entropists is that a true one would not bother to try to prevent the settlement. as he would see it as being destined to rot and fade away over time, as everything must.
That big gold brain couldn't have been all that smart, considering it created a monster to fight Man-Thing that had a weakness to water...in a swamp.
And yeah, my first reaction upon the introduction of Yagzan was: "Nixon?!"

I wonder if this was the same entropist group that appeared in Gerber's Howard The Duck newspaper strip in 1977/78?

  - Genius Gerber Moments: " Will You Turn Back--or must I employ the power of The GOLDEN BRAIN?"

- Never underestimate the warm wetness of a moist sapling

- 18:3 I love the touch of the cultist's head being on his chest under his shroud

- Yagzan looks an awful lot like Nixon

- Now Playing "Nothing" The Fuggs

What the heck did I just read? Leave to Steve Gerber to write something so absurd it's too weird even for Mystery Science Theater 3000!

It was about time Man-Thing and the Glob had a throwdown; the two are really similar in a lot of ways. However, the story didn't make clear how the Glob's brain ended up in Yagzan's possession and became golden. Man....a golden brain inside a large clear globe. And once outside the globe it bounces around like a basketball. That's probably the most "out-there" thing I've ever read in the Order so far.

And making Yagzan a caricature of Nixon, and attacking that alternative energy settlement; this was Gerber clearly making a political statement about big government being in bed with the oil companies during the mid-70s energy crisis. Yet, mixed in with all the trademark Gerber absurdities and it made for an oddly coherent and entertaining story. And of course, the Man-Thing's general detachment from his humanity always adds to the fun.

3 stars. Another typical day in Man-Thing's world, really.

That is potentially the weirdest story in the Order yet, but somehow I still enjoyed it. Maybe it was the Glob. I like that poor guy.
