Good use of a guest star - Man-Thing - and the wise words of an observer keeps this action-packed issue from being a mere slugfest. 7/10

I like that Shang Chi is in the Marvel Universe, but I hope they keep the interactions to a minimum. Beyond Iron Fist & SHIELD, maybe Luke Cage, I don't think he fits into the superhero world at this time.

It made sense that Man-Thing was the shocking guest star. Unfortunately, that made this issue kind of predictable.

When Man-Thing was first introduced his effect on the fearful seemed to be some kind of chemical burn that scarred them. His last few appearances he has seemingly upgraded to napalm throwers.
So no explanation as to why Lu Sun was just wandering around the swamps when he came across the Shang-Chi?

+1 for awesome Man-Thing spread (wow, that sounds dirty)
-1 for Man-Thing and Shang-Chi not actually fighting

Overall, still enjoyed it.

Given that we get no other explanation for Lu Sun's presence, I think he is meant to be a manifestation of Shang Chi's internal conflict. Shang Chi was still under the influence of the mimosa hallucinations.

Side note:
I'm starting to get strong Darth Vader/Luke vibes from Fu Manchu & Shang Chi in these last couple issues

Of all possible Marvel characters that Shang-Chi would first encounter, the Man-Thing would have been my last guess. Somehow, here, it actually worked well. Shang-Chi's wonderment of the swamp creature probably kept its curiosity piqued, which might've been an explanation for it hanging around Shang-Chi and Lu San.

That is, if Lu San was ever there in the first place. I also found his presence and his apparent knowledge of the Man-Thing puzzling, since he's never been seen in that series. I'm going with @Zidko's explanation: Lu San is a figment of Shang-Chi's imagination that was still under the lingering influence of that Mimosa from last issue.

4 stars. Also really liked the ongoing conflict with Fu Manchu's two assassins through the swamp.
