First half is an ingenious attack on Strange's HQ.
Second half is oddball, trippy stuff.

The hipster-stoner bug was annoying, but otherwise an enjoyable read. Glad to see DS back in his own book (at least for awhile.)

I dig this stuff way more than I should, including the stoner-caterpillar that seems to be little more than a nod to Alice in Wonderland! Fitting artist as well.

Haha, this is awesomely psychedelic. Always been a fan of Doctor Strange, and this is exactly the sort of story that I love it for. Frank Brunner's art is perfect for it, too.

Frank Brunner turns in some of the best art in the order so far, and Steve Englehart provides just good enough plot and dialogue to live up to it. Excellent!

The art and layouts for this issue were fantastic!

Well, this sure ended on a "high"

Strange in Wonderland was a nice enough little diversion, but I couldn't rate this issue to highly, as it was mostly setup for the stories to come, so it's hard to judge. And what kind of name is Silver Dagger?
I kinda wish they didn't make Wong so useless. If he's not screwing up doing things, he's getting his butt kicked. You would think Strange would have looked for a replacement long ago.

On page three, the gong makes a "WONG" sound to summon Wong.

Brunner's art reminds me a bit of Steranko...very cool.

  - Before his post-coital nap I'm surprised he didn't ask Wong for the Clove Cigarette of Cyttorak or some such thing

- Fantastic art, has Mike Kaluta ever had the chance to draw Dr. Strange? Seems like a natural fit.

- The story was ok, I liked it, I generally like Dr. Strange stories though. I hope Englehart finds a way to amp these up beyond decent.

Amazing debut issue for his (second) own mag. Good writing, great art!

This picks up pretty much where Doc's series in Marvel Premiere left off: anything-goes plotting, way-out-there storytelling and psychedelic artwork. The Brunner-Giordano team actually produced visuals pretty close to Barry Smith's look in Marvel Premiere #3. It'll probably be difficult for creative teams to keep this going but I hope they at least try; this was fun!

And sure that psycho-pillar was a little annoying, but I thought his hipster speech was refreshing instead of the stuffed-shirt ultra-mystical-and-serious posturing that's been Doc's magical supporting cast stock-and-trade. I like that this bug is ambiguous as far as his willingness (or lack thereof) to help Doc escape.

4 stars. Great start to the series. And love that gong! Even though I thought the sound it made was making fun of Doc's servant, and that's just Wong!

  Wow! This was absolutely incredible!

In most books, blatant references to Alice in Wonderland would be really out of place. For Dr Strange, it kind of works.

The caterpillar was all kinds of cool, but unfortunately the awful first half of this issue dragged the rest down.

I *really* hope this story arc circles back to resolve the giant rabbit loose in Greenwich Village before it's over.
