Action-packed, enjoyable. Re-opens Glenn Talbot subplot and picks up the storylines from the cancelled Adam Warlock series. Suddenly, with this single issue, Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway make Counter-Earth seem like an interesting place/storyline. 7/10

Hulk: When you came pullin' in here, did you notice a sign on the front cover that said "Canceled Characters Storage"?
Warlock: Hulk, you know I ain't seen no shit...
Hulk: Did you notice a sign on the front cover that said "Canceled Characters Storage"?
Warlock: No. I didn't.
Hulk: Do you know WHY you didn't see that sign?
Warlock: Why?
Hulk: 'Cause it ain't there! Cause storin' canceled characters ain't my fuckin' business, that's why!

At first, I thought "Counter Earth? Just f-ing great"... But this wasn't too terrible.

The story may not have been that bad, but those stupid names. So lazy, just make the New-Man look like an animal, and then name it that animal with a letter or two switched around.
I love how the Colonal was like "Fuck this General, I'm going home" after meeting the Hulk.

The "Next Issue" text in this one is way too hyperbolic, even for Marvel. No Counter-Earth issue is going to be the most talked-about issue for the week, let alone of all time. It is such a dumb concept. Even the Washington Monument is duplicated? Give me a break.

There are a lot of things I dislike, even hate, about the New Men. What I hate the most, though, is Cobrah's moustache.

  - Growing up all I could see were the flaws in Herb Trimpe, now all I see are his strengths. This issue is a perfect example. This is not his best work, nor is it his worst. I love how he tells a story, the world he draws feels real, filled with things and stuff, but still simple enough to get it in by deadline. It's early, I haven't had a cup of coffee yet, so I'm not going to go into minute detail but a comparison might help illustrate what I'm trying to express. John Romita jr.'s run on Daredevil (written by Ann Nocenti) in the late 80s I've always felt was where his late style arrived. You can see it developing in X-Men but Daredevil was overt. On the one hand, I get it. He found a way to make visually interesting comics that were both cartoonish, abstract, and visceral and do it quickly. It bores me for some reason. That's what interests me right now, that point of boredom vs. interesting. If I was still a teenager I think I would love Romita jr. but right at this moment I love Herb Trimpe even though he is inconsistent, awkward, and doesn't get to choose the best stories to work on. Not being able to put my finger on why is absolutely part of the appeal. Ahhh, coffee is ready! End ramble.

- 4:4 is that a gradual fade to another scene or are Betty and Thunderbolt vibrating?

- Can we get Betty some Calirol? Her hair color has been a problem for a while. All she needs is one of those awkward Gina Davis haircuts.

- Love watching the Colonel watching the transformation on page 8 like it's Two Hulks One Cup

Counter-Earth has become quite a mess. The government is being run by the New Men, human-animal hybrids. Kinda like our government.

I don't know yet if this arc is supposed to wrap up Counter-Earth's story, but it's a story that deserves to be wrapped up. The whole concept has gone south and has pretty much run its course. It was fun while it lasted, but....time to go, boys.

3 stars. Gotta love that Air Force Officer resigning his commission because "war is less suicidal than facing the Hulk." Good luck with that, sir.

Warlock: "Hulk, do you see 'Slipping Sales' on the front cover?"
Hulk: "No."
Warlock: "Do you want to? Cause this is how you get slipping sales, Greenskin!"

Three stars. (because Man-Beast in a blue suit is hilarious)
