Issue Review
   March 31, 2016
Good story (a sequel to one earlier in the series) and a good battle at the end. Len Wein writes the Hulk's character well. The battle at the end is interrupted by the sudden arrival of Wolverine... 9/10

Wolverine?! What's with the cat mask, old fellow?

  amorbavian Says:

This is the first time, I have seen Hulk in a full sleep. Should not he turn back to Banner when he is relaxed?

  Kez Says:
  2013-04-30 16:10:21
Heh, Wolverine's first appearance is anticlimactic. He really does not look cool at all here. It looks like some dude in a homemade Wolverine costume, and a bad one at that.

  Drax Says:
  2013-08-12 16:51:21
This has to be the worst Wolverine drawing I ever saw!

That last ugly panel of Wolverine sure jacks up the price of this book at the comic shop!

Weapon X, Wolverine.... ithis just feels right.

I never thought I'd say this, but that issue of Hulk was oddly entertaining. The writing was full of imagery and well executed. Good job.

The Wendy go is lame. Looking forward to seeing Wolverine in action for the first time in the next issue.

Now it finally feels like the proper Marvel Universe with Wolverine showing up. This also means it won't be long until the X-Men come back!

  TheAmazingGatorMan Says:

  A wild Hulk appears...

I choose you, Wendigo!

He's not very effective :(

Hulk was hilarious in this issue, I like that they've really started to hit the personality of this character. And of course Hulk gets betrayed again, but at least he doesn't know it, yet.
I am really looking forward to next issue and the introduction of Kitty-Cat Man....I mean Wolverine. I'm interested to see how faithful it is to his later incarnations.

Seeing the words "Weapon X" in a comic book for the first time made my pulse start racing. Strange that seeing "Adhesive X" doesn't have the same effect.

  GroovyGolem Says:

Wow, Marie Cartiere has really gone off the deep end since we last saw her.

I like that Hulk and Wendigo are so evenly matched, and that head-long crash into each other made me wince. It would have been a nice touch if they were both a little dazed by it, but that would have taken up one panel and pushed Wolvie's first appearance to the next issue. :)

  Shocker Says:
  2017-05-19 23:39:09
"Another puny human and a ... girl" - I guess girls are not considered human in Marvel universe...

  dadoodoflow @ Shocker (original post):
  2017-08-29 21:57:32
It originally read "puny humans" until Roy Thomas' editorial pen made the change, "Len, you amlost equated a woman with being human..."

  Russ Says:
  2017-10-28 18:54:46
@GroovyGolem: yeah that collision on page 17 panel 6 was a true meeting of the minds. Ouch. I got a headache just from seeing that!

And what's with the pseudo-viking get-up, Marie? The whole scene with the goodies she was brewing up for the Hulk looked like something from one of the horror mags, like a witch cooking up a brew for a spell (that IS what Marie was kinda trying to do there). Well, can't blame her for being a family gal, right? She just misses her brother.

But that guy in the cat suit on the final panel? Cool, looks like they tried to create a boyfriend for Greer Garson, before her transformation into Tigra. I'm sure that runt will fall into Marvel Obscurity in short order and we'll all forget he ever existed!

3 stars. COL Armbruster has been something of an a$$ up until now, but I have to side with him here. If those commies allowed MAJ Talbot to escape, and he wants to meet the president that badly, he probably shouldn't be allowed to!

  Katryn Says:

Gotta love that farmer and Hulk's reaction to him. I would be ok with seeing how Hulk went about fixing his fence.

  Allencthulhu Says:
  2018-01-03 21:54:03
Five stars? What are you talking about Allencthulhu?

The eyes have it: I'm not a big fan of Herb Trimpe art but the way he draws the Wendigo, especially the eyes, is supernatural. (EXTRA STAR!)

Weapon X: First appearance by Wolverine! He's the best at what he does, just don't ask him what it is! (EXTRA STAR!)

Five Stars.
