Fascinating story, some of it told as a page of text, with some very weird happenings. Plus, at the end, lots of action. This is a really good series. 9/10

It's silly, and yet I find I am intrigued and want to know what happens next.

The cards are definitely magic. When there is a close-up on them they grow to the size of menus.
Try explaining that to your insurance company: "Yeah, my car was destroyed by the demon from the sausage factory sign. No I wasn't drinking."
A profoundly silly issue, but at the very least it is not boring.

For my money, Steve Gerber is almost incapable of writing a bad issue. I certainly wouldn't call any of these issues great, but I'm never so bored I can't wait for it to be over, the way I sometimes feel about stories by Len Wein, Mike Friedrich, Gary Friedrich, Gerry Conway, etc. And pretty much every issue has a really clever moment or two.

I don't think the Son of Satan series will really ever amount to anything, but in Gerber's hands it's actually better than I thought possible. It was eventual that the Tarot cards would see some use here, yet it amounted to a pretty entertaining story.

3 stars. "Do you have the Fool card?" "Go Fish!" "Dangit!"

I like the implication that Daimon has brought this on himself by being such an arse to the gypsy woman that she cursed him. Not her fault that he's trying to fight the entirety of hell by himself.
