Finally! A hero reveals his identity! Too bad it didn't work though...

And Odin astounds me once more with his parenting failures.

Oh well, he tried, but once again Odin intervened, now I'm waiting for when it is for real, and forever.

I both love and hate the "Tales of Asgard" pieces, because I love the fact that they were showing all these pieces of Norse mythology which has never been as popular as Greek mythology. But at the same time, I'm a huge mythology buff, so the fact that Stan & Co. keep taking a classic trickster god in Loki and making him into a black and white evil character is kind of painful for me.

I loved the main story. It's great seeing Don doing the hero bit without becoming Thor. Odin's an idiot.

This Tales of Asgard was average. I wish Loki were more than just a douchebag in these comics, and Thor's purity was grating.

Classic Stan Lee irony! Just when Thor is about to reveal himself to Jane, he loses his powers!

THOR uses LIGHTNINGBOLT on GREY GARGOYLE!
It's super effective!

Odin never mixes in affairs of the heart, except for the previous issues of Thor.
Don Blake runs pretty good for a guy with a bad leg.
Thor chooses power over love. He doesn't have the right to moan about how much he loves Jane Foster anymore.
Young Loki looks a lot like Tom Hiddleston the actor who plays Loki in the movies.

Agood, standard issue. Nothing Midgard shattering, but nothing laughably ridiculous. So since I like the Grey Gargoyle and the art is top notch I give it an extra star.

Tales of Asgard only so-so this issue.

We almost get some storyline progression on the Don/Jane front, but nooooo...

Here we go again...Thor is ready to denounce his godhood for Jane...oh yeah, he's finally made up his mind...this seems to happen every 3rd or 4th issue.
Really good art so far...great job Kirby.
Odin is always telling Loki how Thor is the favored son...maybe this is why Loki turned out the way he did.
This was an entertaining read. I like that Grey Gargoyle has the option to turn people to stone permanently as well, that whole 60 seconds thing seemed so...well...60's.
This was enjoyable, but there wasn't a Tales Of Asgard story at the end...was that just me..?

3 stars for the return of the Grey Gargoyle!

Cover Me - Now with more "Mightier"!!!

Splash - Is that a Studebaker grill on front of the Sky Ship?

One And Done - I wish we would see more of the Demon Men of Jotunheim. Imagine normal sized humans in the land of giants! In Flash Gordon sky ships no less!!

Cry Havok - Speaking of Flash Gordon; Odin is rockin' the Hawkmen look!

Stone Cold - Sorry, GG, but I think steel cables are stronger than stone cables! In fact, I think pretty much any type of metal is stronger than stone...

Grey Goober - GG mentions that people forgot that he can fly with his wings, but I think that this is the first time that he is shown flying!

Sweet Ride - Nice wheels for a lame doctor!

Shameless Promotion - Did you notice the billboard that GG jumped on?

Style - Nice monograms the young godlings are sportin'! Although Loki's seems to have disappeared halfway through the story...

'Nuff Said - "--I am THOR, Son of Odin, God of Thunder!"-Lame Dr. Blake

Why would stan bother throwing in the bit about GG being able to fly? What an unnecessary and unfitting ability. I think stones aren't really known for their aerodynamic qualities...

While the lack of story progression is annoying, the thing I dislike the most is the omnipotence of Odin. Like how he can take away the powers of another Asgardian just by thinking it.

4 stars. Color me crazy, but I really liked the story, and Thor almost revealing his secret identity. I also liked the short about Loki's childhood. Maybe it's because the previous comics in The Order were so horrible that I thought this issue was brilliant. Either way, 4 stars to Thor!

  1. Stans splash page comment is very funny
2. Blake looks totally nuts. I like it
3. There are a lot of problems with this villain. The power is fine but the mundane stuff, like flying, doesn't work
4. The identity reveal was well written
5. The Loki story was not exciting but it served well as effective back story

If you think about it in a non 60s way,(marvel)Loki has every excuse to be a villain (I added Marvel in front of his name to differentiate him from myhology Loki). His father was killed, his childhood heritage taken, and his murderer adopted him.Everyone but his father's killer, and his adopted father, treats him constantly as a pariah from babyhood ,believing evil is his predetermined course, and willing to punish a child harshly for law infractions. At the same time, the only people who do not treat him as evil incarnate are Odin, his father's murderer, and even he displays obvious favouritism to his other son, making Loki a glorified political hostage, and his adopted brother, who has everything Loki wished to have, could have, and had the birthright to have (inasmuch as royalty truly has such rights, but as Asgard is a kingdom, his rights were not sacrificed for democracy,so moot point),namely, the authority and preferential treatment of a king. Not everyone would turn villain after that,but...I understand someone who would.

Don't you hate it when you see an issue like this isn't marked "Essential," and then you know there's a catch.

  • That's my line – "Perhaps it was created by a tribe older than time... when the river was no more than a dry, arid plain!" (Fame-hungry yet delusional scientist)

  • That's my line too – "I note and commend your loyalty, my second son! Though Thor has ever been my favored one, mayhap my judgment was false!" (Odin the All-Senile) – I cannot believe he forgot the countless times Loki has betrayed him. Odin, you imbecile, you SO deserve him!

  • At last, Blake found the courage to tell Jane about his identity. That's a first! But of course, Jane would not believe him and he would lose the ability to prove it. Next time, my dear, let Thor tell her!

  • I kinda like the Grey Gargoyle! At least, his quest has some purpose. But the retelling of his origin was absolutely not necessary.

  • That chicken flying across the hall sure made me laugh!

  • Wings or not, stone cannot fly, even with limitations! The power just does not fit with that villain.

  • The story is not too bad, with an interesting twist at the end, but I wish Odin would make up his mind! Although art was pretty good, I can't bring myself to give more than 3 stars because no progress was made, we're back to point A. And everything was so cliché and predictable.

Damn, Don runs fast for a cripple. As usual, Thor is pretty decent. Even though I definitely called it as being a Stan Lee Ruse, it was a nice little ride with some pretty good artwork.

"How fortunate that I paid for my rent one year in advance"...yes, how fortunate indeed

Everything about the Loki story had me rolling in laughter, from Thor's flowing young locks in panel one, to Loki's oddly shaped head that varies panel to panel, to the monogrammed clothing...
