Issue Review

First decent issue in a while. Nothing special. Just wall-to-wall action, but it fair zips along and the CA/F partnership has never been better. Ironic, since one of them has amnesia. 6/10

I noticed on page 2 that Nightshade had an uncolored eye, I thought it was a fluke, then I come here and happened to see that Michele Wolfman was the colorist. I wonder where they got her? Marv Wolfman's granny or something?

Not quite good enough for three stars but better than the previous few issues. What amazes and disappoints me is the immediate drop in quality after Steve Engleharts run. For me easily the best run of Cap since the series started back in Tales of Suspense.
Really not a fan of the art. In the letters page there is a letter from a disgruntled reader clamouring for Frank Robbins to be taken off the book!

I still like Frank Robbins, he has a lot of flair. I give ethis three stars despite the fact that Nightshade is just over the top offensive in so many ways.

The Trial of the Falcon... A 2 star plot purloined from the pages of Sgt. Fury.

Nightshade is a dirty little minx.

Oh dear Lord this was bad. Points for the fullon action but the art is killing me combined with silly things like Shield flying wedge!? Apparently Nightshade is 18 years old... in this issue (younger last time we saw her). Also I beginning to hate the obligatory recap of how a villian survived his/her last seeming death. I'm fine with them just returning without the comic using pages showing some unbelievable save like Nightshade's rock-moving jewelry or Red Skull's last minute zipline.

The editorial footnotes were extra snarky this time around.

Glad to see that it doesn't appear Marvel is going to take the easy route of saying that Falcon was a good guy all along, and just had fake memories brainwashed into him. Interested for the trial next ish.
Good action this issue, but the whole deal with Nightshades weakness being daylight at the end was kinda dumb. How was she still able to control the werewolves last time during the day then?

I thought this was better than the last few issues after Englehart's departure, though still not even close to Englehart's level. Nightshade just doesn't say "credible threat" to me, and her plan during this arc pretty much proves it. First, she's still a kid playing adult in an adult body. Second, Contessa's solution rendered virtually everything moot. If Nightshade can be beaten just by letting sunlight in, Contessa would've had her beat even without Cap and Falcon intervening. Which actually is kinda cool, if you think about it. But with that glaring weakness, Nightshade was pretty much defeated by the time she had the rest of SHIELD under her control; it was just a matter of time. Hey, just like a kid to not think things through, eh?

And yeah, the Falcon's ordeal isn't done yet, and I like that move. I wonder if this is what Englehart had in mind, and forwarded the plot point to Isabella when he took over the title. The idea of Falcon's trial sounds like something Englehart might've done had he stayed on the title. Let's see how Isabella handles this development.

2 stars. The art was a slight improvement; it's possible that Coletta's signature "treatments" could've actually helped Robbins's pencils!
