I'm not a fan of comics/episodes where the hero stumbles into the middle of some nefarious plot. So, from the start, this issue didn't appeal to me. But things got worst when I realised what a silly story it is. Nonsense. And I really donít like Frank Robbins art. 3/10

Silly story, but in small doses I can enjoy Robbins' goofy hood caricatures and pimpin' styles. This is one of those 2.6 round-it-up 3 ratings.

Frank Robbins' makes goofy art which I do not appreciate. The low quality plot certainly did not help a bit.

Combine Marvel's worse writer and artist of the time and you have the 5th consecutive not so good to bad issue of Captain America.

The jets altitude as shown in the art was too low to cause massive decompression. No one would have gotten sucked out. Would Faustus even fit through a jet window?

I'm kind of excited by Kirby's return. At least, his art can't be as bad as Robbins'

And there you have it. The worst issue of Captain America so far IMO. Goodbye Mr. Robbins and Mr. Wolfman. All stand for the King!

If I remember the King's return right, I'm not looking forward to it.

This issue was as close as you can get to a MAD/CRAZY version of Captain Anerica... without the bleccch jokes.

Not a fan of the goofy art. Also the whole what to do or what not to do about being CA or not I thought w were past that.

Extra star for the gangster who thinks having a window seat with the shade up means you've got guts. Unlike most young punks...

Malmantile nailed it. 3 stars for goofiness that should only be written in small doses.

He straps it to his back under his shirt. I know it doesn't make sense because it should be noticeable, but they've shown it that way a few times now.
The overall plot I thought was pretty good and original, can't say we've necessarily read anything like it in the order yet, but some of the plot devices used were just mind boggling. First off, Cap getting onto the flight to begin with! It's a charter(private) flight, which means he's not allowed on board. Regardless of his clearance card, he should have been stopped at the gate. And then of course, cap jumps on to the one plane that is filled 100% with criminals. And don't give me that "uncanny radar ability" crap, even Daredevil would call BS on that. Also, I've never seen those convenient stripper poles on planes before that Cap grabbed to keep from flying out.
The art was definitely unsettling, I felt like I was reading an Archie comic. And only about half of the panels actually had backgrounds.
It was very weird that Faustus kept calling Captain America just "America". It sounded like he was talking to the country or something.

That epilogue where Cap decides to stop worrying about everything that's happened and just focus on what comes next is both funny and sad, knowing that Kirby is about to start a run that's notorious for completely ignoring Marvel continuity and most of the established Cap characters.

What a crazy collection of characters. Extra star for weirdness.

Plot was too over the top for me. Robbins' art improved, but it doesn't fit the setting that well.

  Shinderu Says:
  2017-12-01 16:04:21
Improved? I thought his art was even worse than usual.
I didnít like the way Cap acted in order to get on the plane, either. Waving around Shield IDs and illegally hitching a plane ride for selfish reasons is not really behavior I would expect from Captain America...

  Russ Says:

It did kind of have the feel of a filler story to me. It's as if the editorial staff had been floundering for capable creators since Englehart's departure. And with the Falcon's subplot wrapped up at least for the time being, we're just seeing them pad out issues now.

So Faustus's idea behind a new wave of crime is a gun that vegetates people? Nice. I would've called it the "420." Anyway, looks like Faustus contacted Advanced Idiot Mechanics to make it.

2 stars; it was a decent enough plot that with a little more it could've eked out a third star. But all of a sudden this book is wandering like a ship without a rudder.

I really wanted to hate this story, but it was just goofy enough to enjoy.

Three stars.
