Issue Review

A lame new villain and too much time on the supporting characters, while BG is ignored, make for weakest issue so far. But it does have a few surprises (the assassination at the start) and a nice character moment at the very end, so all is not lost. Yet. 4/10

The first 2 issues were good. This issue wasn't worth the crap I wiped from my arse this morning.

Funny, I actually thought this was the best of the three issues. Different strokes, I guess. I like the fact that they're having BG make mistakes from time to time since he's new to the game and his powers. They're also doing a good job of laying the groundwork for future stories. What was the sudden sickness that overcame our hero? What is the threat to Talia? (And when she's talking to herself, why does she use her name...that's creepy) And the big one: What's in the box?! (In my best Brad Pitt impression)
I like less the fact that he's cracking wise moments after he sees a cop get murdered, and talk about how much he's enjoying himself. Also no too sure how growing to 15 feet gives him the ability to jump off of tall buildings face first without ill effect. Bad guys haven't really been a high point of the series to date, and that's really not going to improve with Stilt-Man being advertised for next issue.

Wait, are you talking about the female cop? Wasn't she up and walking around later?

My opinion, this was a slight step below the first two issues, though still pretty good overall. Maybe some things will be explained in subsequent issues, like who executed Atom-Smasher and why, and Bill's health problems after that battle. I'm assuming his body was reacting to the heavy size-changing, but again, that was never explained out, only presumed beforehand. Yet, he still went out to confront Vulcan and that biker gang.

I also like the fact that he's making mistakes as a neophyte hero; it's setting up future plotlines that could go in almost any direction. And Talia's little interlude is very Claremont-like in execution. Very well done.

3 stars. Anyone wanna wager that Tony didn't send that box to Bill and Co.? He wouldn't send them anything that unstable without heavy guard escorting it!
