RikerDonegal November 23, 2013Very message-heavy, but rises above that flaw (?) with it’s likable/proactive hero and dark tone. Definitely no other titles like this one. 8/10 |

I know this s**t technically takes place in th MU, but as it is pure "satire," I don't think Howard really belongs in 616. I'm not arguing for expulsion from the list, I'm just considering that I may skip it in "my" universe. |

As long as the satirical quality is maintained at a high standard and the MU connection is kept minimal, I'm ok with reading Howard. |

Howard should be given his team-up book. It would be a lot more interesting than Spider-Man team-ups. |

I was 12 years old when these issues were originally on the newsstand. At the time, I was reading pretty much everything Marvel was publishing EXCEPT Howard the Duck, Conan, Shang-Chi and the horror titles. I doubt I would have appreciated the humor back in the day but I'm really enjoying these at the moment. |

Silly, humorous and enjoyable. I wonder if Disney ever tried to sue Marvel over how Howad was drawn. Eerily similar to Donald. |

Now that is dark humor. It seems that Howard's powers are great luck and the ability to learn things really fast through imaginary montages. |

Threatened to sue and won. In a couple of years you will see a character redesign (including pants) that Disney insisted upon to keep them out of court. Not that it matters now since Disney owns him.
Don't understand why people think this is too far out for 616. We're talking about a world that already includes Leapfrog, the Porcupine, and Stilt-Man with complete seriousness. Howard is no more silly, he's simply willing to point out how silly things are.
Some surprisingly dark subject matter in this one. On the bright side, no obvious ogling of Bev's body parts. On the flip side Howard calls a couple of kids (that appear to be Asian) that are playing martial arts "fortune cookies".
So far they have parodied Dracula, Conan, generic superhero (with a detour into Killraven), and now Shang-Chi. I'm actually very interested to see who's next. |

I'd read Howard and find it believable any day over the original Strange Tales run.
I'm shocked I'm enjoying this comic as much as I am. |

In this issue: Howard instantly masters the "Five Feather Death Punch."
Howard's been a breath of fresh air in the Order after all the heavier, and not very good, stories of the 1970s. I think this works as long as interaction with the rest of the 616 universe is kept to a minimum, as @leisch said.
