By-the-numbers stuff. A crime thwarted, followed by broad character strokes. 5/10

-Still not loving the short form. I also hope they're not looking to saddle CB with "Peter Parker" style problems.

The last page did felt like a good ol' Peter/Liz/Flash interaction...

So are they just covering for not having time to finish colouring or what?

I'm having a hard time believing this is Chris Claremont, with all the other good work he is doing at this point in the order. Also I don't like the Kirby-esque art.

I guess all new series' from marvel will be done with the Parker-Osborn quadratic formula. (1 hero + (n+1) frienemies)/(issues before first super-villain * ((rating of first villain)^(rating of the average of issues read)) - (# of female friends)) = success of new comic series in relation to the Gwen Stacy Pi Chart of Goblin Success.

Oh, and I'm automatically reading Jacko Tanners inner dialogue voice as Michael Jackson's voice.

Shouldn't they all have British accents? Aren't they in England? Wasn't this comic sold in England? They have characters with British accents all the time in Marvel. Why stop now, when it really should have it?

CB spent the day being grilled by the police? I thought heroes were supposed to run away, so they weren't subjected to fingerprinting or remove his mask.

Not to bad... I was not looking forward to this stretch of Captain Britain, but Im enjoying it so far.

Got to say I've never been less interested in something Claremont's done. Was tempted to think of this as "early Claremont, getting his footing" until I realized that he's writing some damn fine Iron Fist stories at the same time as this throw-away dreck.

The format of the magazine (at least at this point) was 4 colour sheets on the outside jacketing 4 BW sheets in the interior. This meant that they had 8 colour pages (including the "covers") at both the front and back of the book and 16 BW pages in the middle. If the feature story exceeded 8 pages (i.e. 7 story pages plus the cover), the overrun would be in the BW section.

For a British audience, everything would be read as speaking with a proper (i.e. unaccented to them) British accent unless the character has a specific accent the writers want to emphasize (like Cockney) just as American comics might emphasize a southern accent ("Y'all"). To emphasize that a character is American, they might actually give that character an American accent by saying things like "vye-tamin" for "vitamin".
