Unexpected detour. A flashback issue in the middle of a story?! Never mind. Itís actually a very satisfying tale. With action and character insights. The ending is good, too. 9/10

-"Ancient Chinese secret, huh?" More like missed deadline filler. It was serviceable.

Dreaded Deadline Doom, huh? Terrible art in this. Real rush job.

Why is it? I'm really enjoying a storyline-bam! interrupt it with a filler issue.

How many other siblings does Chi have?

I do hate it when they have these filler issue interrupting the storyline, but this story was a decent look into Shang-Chi's past.

"The traitor may be anyone, even he who is least expected." What? The moment Kwan-Shu appeared I was like "Oh, here's the bad guy" and I don't think it's because I'm just incredibly smart.
Why is it that during the training section the only part of him covered in black is his head, then for the rest of the issue he's a literal shadow?

Really surprised we haven't seen more 'shadow' characters in the rush issues. Not having any features beyond a silhouette has to make things faster.

I didn't care for this at all. First off, the issue was sabotaged by the Dreaded Deadline Doom, as mentioned above. Second, the filler was basically a simple "catch the thief in the act" deal after Shang-Chi and Midnight spar a couple of times. And the thief being caught, you could see that a mile away. I thought this one was about at a level of one of the 60s Tales to Astonish stories.

1 star. Maybe the creative team should sit down in Lerner's apartment with Shang-Chi and meditate on how to put together a better story.
