Good foe in this one, with a very dangerous and exciting plan.
Story paints both the Thing and Black Widow in a very impressive light.
Great final scene. 9/10

This was a pleasant little thriller, with a rare satisfied Thing to as a cherry on top!

I liked that, they made Widow pretty badass. A bit silly that nobody attacked thing for apparently hours while she snuck around the complex though.

Wow, did Claremont with only one story just save Black Widow after her being repeatedly humiliated by Conway.

Pleasant surprise, especially after the Man-Thing run.

I find it difficult to believe a tiny sports car could knock out Thing. Decent story.

+1 star for the Black Widow being super bad-ass.

Now this is the Black Widow I know! Shes kicking ass, and not even bothering with the names.

"Mrs. Romanov, We're needed." If your going to have a Emma Peel like character, might as well add the clink of champagne glasses at the end. If only the Thing wore a bowler hat and carried an umbrella also.

Look at that! A full issue with the Black Widow and she doesn't get kidnapped once! I really hope she's 100% done with Daredevil soon.
While that was absolutely a fun ride, the nerd in me is really bothered by the fact that the Thing was able to pull the bomb up. It's not that he's not strong enough, it's simple physics. That bomb outweighs him by at least a few tons, so there is no way that he'd stay on the ground. At the very least he would be pulled into the air up to the pulley. More likely is he would go over the pulley and just follow the bomb into the depths of the ocean.

This story felt like something out of the Silver Age but somehow Claremont makes it enjoyable.

  "Widder-woman". Ugh.

  Zidko Says:
  2017-04-09 18:19:02
The overuse of Thing's pet names "Widder" and "Aggie" really grate this otherwise fun, light-hearted romp. We even get a smidgen of Black Widow backstory

  Russ Says:

Hey, this was fun! Finally, after way too long, we see the Black Widow doing what she was created to do; kicking some bad guy butt. I think it's really cool how Claremont gets a good feel for the characters he writes. He's on the cusp of making the X-Men legendary, and he's also treating female heroes like equals instead of damsels in distress that constantly need rescuing. It's a cinch Roy Thomas had no say in his hiring!

Okay, so this Agamemnon guy (no apparent relation to a very early Dr. Strange foe) has a really powerful bomb he's going to explode in the ocean to wipe out the entire U.S. eastern seaboard. Now, I'm no nuclear expert, but I don't think even the hottest or most radioactive explosion could attain anywhere near the level of heat that our sun puts out. Dude, I know you like boasting, but I've told you a billion times not to exaggerate!

3 stars. Never thought I'd see the Thing in the spy business!
