A slugfest issue, which is fun but kinda dumb.
Guest hero is interesting, however. 5/10

Written well, Ben Grimm is one of my favorite Marvel characters, and Mantlo gives him a couple of great lines in this issue. Mispronouncing Kaballa's names as "Cornballa" got me smiling.

I get that they tried to give the Golem a proper send off, but this story resolves nothing...

This was awful but what do you expect when you combine the lack of talent of Mantlo and Thomas? This issue demonstrates that Thing is every bit the menace the Hulk is, and yet he gets away with this crap without being arrested and Alicia wants to stay with him? Needless to say, grabbing a handle on the side of a train is not going to stop the train, the handle would tear off. Just bad story telling all around here.

This gets two stars strictly for the staggering number of felonies Thing commits trying to catch the train...

I'm just at a loss at how something this bad would expect to be sold. I feel like Marvel owes me 25 cents for reading this garbage.

Hangs cabbie from a lamp post for the audacity of expecting to get paid; Causes multiple injuries barrelling through the crowded train station, what with being a mobile brick wall; Breaks through a secure checkpoint, knocking its attendant senseless; Puts the safety of countless patrons of the train in danger by suddenly stopping it, at the same time causing thousands of dollars of property damage, and probably shutting down that particular track down for a month at least; "Why do people treat me like a monster?"
And it actually gets worse in Florida (I question the validity of there being a Grand Central to Disney World nonstop line), where Thing drags his blind girlfriend into a battle zone, leaving her to fend for herself in an unfamiliar city yards away from a mindless rampaging monster, and then abandons her there after he gets knocked around a bit, never to see her again. WTF Ben?! Call me a sadist, but I would love for him not to be able to find her next issue to maybe teach him a lesson for being such a dick.
I feel bad for the Golem, his own series was much better than this drek and it was this that ended his Marvel existence.

I really wanted to like this, but Thing was written like ana**and Kaballah is a terrible name for a demon when you are reading an issue about a Jewish (Kabalistic) golem.

Uh. In what world is St. Petersburg on the way to Disney World... Some needs to buy Mantlo a globe.
