The large cast is cool, but itís just another issue with a battle from first page to last. The battle ends in a bland way, and the story (trying to be downbeat) ends in poor taste. 5/10

-"Cows, pigs, and witches! The world is beset by devils!"
-You can't spell freedom without Free Doom! Wait a minute...
-It's official: Moondragon is ALMOST a badass--The Rider had a lil too much for her, eh?
-Is Mantlo talkin' about boobies on page 30, panel 1? Naw, I looked it up.

It was an ambitious arc, but Mantlo is just not up to the task.

Dark Rider's origin didn't make much sense, what the hell. And why Doom's last attack was efficient?

This arc is probably the best thing on Marvel Team-Up so far, but the end of this issue was kind of disappointing, even the last page being pretty good.

  Worst ending ever.

Goddamn this story went on way too long. $ issues?!?

Mantlo gets much better later on, but this sure is a sharp learning curve.

Well that turned dark at the end.

Doom's last attack seemed to begin working because a) he was using his sorcery rather than his technology, and b) he attacked while Vision was already attacking, thus proving Spider-Man's theory that together they could overload him by working together. Was actually nice to see Spidey using his brains in one of these team-ups.
On the other hand, Spidey summing up the entire arc to himself as he woke up, out loud no less, was just terrible writing.
That last panel was a surprise. Especially since the Spidey demographic always skewed a little younger.

I think 4 issues was too long for this arc, especially taking it a little sideways with the fight against Dark Rider like it did. The explanation for the successful attack to take him down seemed to make sense, but it's one of those things you have to wonder, why didn't they think of it before, since it seemed so obvious? Ah well, it's over and done.

That ending though, a little chilling. Rooted in history, supposedly, but still pretty dark.

2 stars. Not sure if this qualifies as MTU's best arc; it's definitely the longest. I've really been unimpressed with this title overall, even knowing its premise.
