I saw this come up in the order and I initially just figured I'd comment with a lame joke about "and the Kid grew up to drum for the Beatles", but this is actually a decent Western story. Plus, interracial marriage as a major part of his origin? I didn't see that coming. That was still illegal in some parts of America where kids might have read this comic in 1954.

Also, the ridiculously evilly named Shad Rathburn looks a lot like later Western star Charles Bronson. This was an interesting little comic!

It's a little...odd that father and son just parted ways at the end. But, it wasn't too bad of an origin story, all things considered.
