Namor vs. Doctor Doom. So much for the Team-Up idea! :)
Itís a slugfest issue, but a good one. Doomís arrogance makes great reading. As does the activity of the villain on the sidelines. 9/10

I get tired of watching Namor and Doom argue and fight among themselves. And a throwaway reference to Deathlok was not gonna save this bland issue.

The dialogue between Doom and Namor took a star away.

The ending sucked more than a whore house on dollar night.

Not very good, but was that the Earth-616 Deathlok?

Much better name for this title: Arrogant Douchebag Team-Up. I think we were very close to having a whole issue where they just continually grab each other while indignantly saying "YOU DARE--!"
So when Doom is pointing out that Namor is losing strength because he has been out of water too long, and they are standing on a tiny rock outcropping surrounded by the sea, I think I'm seeing an issue with Subbie's battle plan. Why doesn't he just pull Doom underwater and fight there?

  Arrogance, probably.

Not that Namor could really touch Doom until Doom got too arrogant and turned his force field off. If that fight showed me anything it's that Namor really doesn't have much of a fight to offer Doom.

Why call it a team-up when they're fighting right on the cover?

  HeffElf Says:

So on page 3 panel 1 Doom briefly turns Namur into Freddy Mercury. And then everyone was calling that guy captain Riker, but he was obviously Ron Burgundy, perhaps before he became a legendary anchorman.

Looks like the boys broke up the band before they could finish the album. Heck, they barely even started the album! The final session in the studio ended with an argument over who was going to play the lead guitar solo, and who was going to play rhythm. Both guys then tried to throw each other out of the studio; they eventually just left on their own. It's unknown if any of their recordings will ever be released, but a rogue engineer looks to be creating his own mixes!

2 stars. Hey, at least the description I gave was more entertaining than what we actually read.

One of the things really hurting this title is the merry-go-round of creative teams. Shooter gives way to Mantlo and we're right back to square one.

Without a regular creative team, especially this early in its run, the title has no chance to gel. Thus we get the repeating storylines and the lack of progress.

Two stars.

What? We get Bill Mantlo? Iíve softened some of vitriol against him (partially because he was a lifer and does not deserve his current fate, plus Iíve found some decent pieces by him). Seeing him the credits still doesnít fill me with confidence.

Trimpe & Mooney though. But if all the other issues are any measure, Marvel just went with their workhorses who can crank out content (poor Sal Buscema gets such a hard time for being the sole reason some comics actually got out), so not expecting their best.

That is a sad splash where DOOM! Punches Subby

Iíve been listening to various Mozart arias while reading these Super-Villain team ups, kind of added value

This has always felt like a comic they just rush out, but it gained a little bit of good will that it spent with this issue.
