A fairly pointless story. There are two parallel narrative strands.
In one we follow a hunter as he kills animals before returning to his village where he has conflict with his father and brother.
In the other, we follow Ka-Zar are he tracks the hunter hoping to avenge the creatures killed for sport.
It's dull stuff. Ka-Zar seems smug here, appointing himself judge, jury and executioner. His quarry isn't terribly interesting. The ending is convoluted and unsatisfying.

Like whoa, man. This issue is totally a metaphor for American colonialism, right? Or is it a protest against fascism? Or is it a big ol' bowl of vanilla puddin'? You've had it countless times before, but it still fills your belly.

Dull retelling of Cain and Abel with a morality story "twist" at the end. I don't care much for Conway's writing in general, but this is far from his best work.

Pointless story that has nothing to do with anything.

So I wasn't the only one who thought this was a lame retelling of Cain and Abel.

Not sure I understand how this is a retelling of Cain and Abel. Sure, a guy kills his brother, but hell that happens all the time. Nearly everything else is different.
I love how Ka-Zat says "Let's go Zabu, since you're no longer hurt." Meanwhile Zabu has to be thinking "What do you mean no longer hurt?! Mother*&#$er I just got body slammed by a dinosaur 10 minutes ago."
Tomas is a terrible hunter since he kills the animals but doesn't bring back the body to feed his tribe. No wonder he wasn't chosen.
That ending was totally unearned. Sure, he was upset that he killed his brother, but he went from super proud of his hunt to suicidal in all or 5 seconds.
